This thing is ok, but the problem is the design. You can't get it under the plate setter if it has the legs flipped upward because it won't fit in the groove. So basically you have to use the ash tool or something to lift the conveggtor/platesetter up with to get this under the bottom to actually use it. It works fine if you are cooking a pizza and have the platesetter with the legs in the down position, but not good for smoking because it's just too difficult to use. I don't think they thought through this one too well.

This is basically a single piece of rigid steel, bent into the shape you can see. The handle is padded, but you'll still want a heat-resistant glove. It works by sandwiching the plate-setter within the lower bend on the tool, and once in place, the tool lifts the plate setter securely so it can be set aside. So far so good—it works. However, you need to start by sliding the bottom leg of Lifter into one of the 3 gaps between the plate setter legs and the wall of the cooker, then rotate it to be perpendicular to the wall of the cooker, with the tool pointing toward the center. The problem is that when the plate setter is in the "legs up" position (as for holding the grill to cook indirectly) the bottom leg of the Lifter--the piece that needs to be positioned on the bottom of the plate setter--is too long to slip between the plate setter and the wall of the Egg. You actually have to lift the plate setter by some other means in order to widen that gap and get the Lifter in, then rotate to the lifting position.I’m thankful we had those heat-resistant gloves that allowed us to grab one leg of the plate setter. We think (and will have handy next time) that the little “L” shaped tool we use for ash scraping will be able to do this small bit of lifting (just an inch or 2 is needed) to tilt the plate-setter and allow the Lifter to slide in. I'll update this review after we try that.

We received the plate lifter yesterday Pit Boss K24 Ceramic barbecue about the size of the large green egg. This product is well made of heavy steel and fits the heat deflector very well and is strong enough to lift it easily. Would recommend it to anyone with a Kamado grill using a heat deflector.
