DR Sunbeams bass strings are exceptional for their warm, rich tone and smooth feel. The nickel wrap over a round core gives them a perfect balance of flexibility and sustain, making them ideal for both fingerstyle and slap. They’re also easy on the fingers and maintain a consistent tone for a long time.

I love these strings. DR Sunbeam is the perfect name as the warm tone just envelopes your whole body. I imaging golden sun blanket wrapping me in warm tone. Really, there's are great round core strings. Flexible with grip for digging in. Slap well too. These are my favorite round wound bass strings. I have them on two basses.

I tried these instead of my usual Fat Beams. I noticed less “punchiness” and high end across the spectrum without losing or gaining any low end. They are quality strings and sound great for a lot of genres but I personally prefer stainless roundwounds.

Sunbeams is the perfect name for these strings. They are advertised as having the perfect balance of warmth and brightness, and that's exactly what they provide. They are round core, and very low tension, so they are very comfy and easy to play. They last a good while too. I've tried many other brands over the years, and have liked some of them a lot, but DR strings are my tried and true go-to!

Fabulous bass strings. Tension not too firm, or not too loose. Lovely warm sound. You’ll do well to find a better nickel roundwound…

Without doubt the smoothest roundwounds I've ever used in 59 years of playing. I've never had much to do with DR Strings (on Bass or guitar), but if these strings are anything to go by, then I'm a convert. Quite fancy those Red Devils for a bit of fun :)

I've been playing bass for 20+ years and have had a lot of changing opinions on strings. I started off using Rotosound, then labella, then into my flatwound phase when I pretty much played Thostiks exclusively. As a bassist who prefers throwback and old school sounds, finding strings to use for modern/cover/wedding gigs was tough, I prefer the sound of a broken in round so I use nickel as they reach that point sooner than steel. I eventually found DR pure blues to be perfect on my passive bass but somewhat lacking on my stingray (active), as I tend to use lower action on my stingray. With the hex core you maintain higher tension than with the round core. I tried sunbeams out for the first time this summer and absolutely love them. I had them on my stingray since July and I'm about to order a new set (January) and they matured well. I keep my strings clean and these strings are just now reaching the point where I'm considering changing them, although I think I could do a few more months if I really wanted to. I play a lot of reggae and soul, and if you like worn in rounds, these mature nicely for that. The hex core really keeps the string resonate and strong throughout it's lifespan, meaning if you like the sound of old strings but are tired of your cores giving out as soon as the rounds loose their zing (rotosound, anyone?), Than these are a great option for a half year or longer playtime.

As it says in the description: smooth, flexible, and bright with edges and some zings. It is really taking you out of the string fatigue and pain from stainless steel and other nickel strings in the market. Ernie ball slinky and daddario NXL are considered less smooth and stiffer compare to sunbeam. If you have light touch or looking for super smooth feeling on fingers, get this one and slap them on your bass! The only issue of this string set is the B string is kind of sloppy on low action, you can set to a high action to perfectly solve it out, but that will compensate some comfort on your finger.
