These are ok. They smell great but they are really messy. Yes, I am aware they are cedarwood chip canisters and I understand that it means they are filled with cedar shavings HOWEVER, they could have some sort of mesh to prevent a mess from happening. They don't. It's very frustrating because I put all the clothes away in a plastic tub to store for the winter and I washed them beforehand so they would be clean and free of anything that could ruin them. I put one of the canisters inside and then all of a sudden one day I noticed it had been tipped over and I had cedar shavings everywhere. The set comes with a spray too that you can use to refresh the smell so I almost wish I'd gotten some wool drier balls and sprayed them with that instead to save myself having to pull the clothes out, rewash them, and vacuum the container they were in. Not worth the mess to be honest.

Put these in all areas around the house that needs safeguarding from such things. Smell great, easy to use (just peel the seal and top off) and the oil is a nice option to keep the chips fresh and long lasting. Thumbs up!

These cedarwood chip canisters, which I received through Vine, are an excellent way to protect clothes from moths. It works great, smells fresh and it is a great natural alternative to chemical moth repellents. The reusable tins look cool while they are convenient as they can be refreshed over time with the included enhancing spray.

Not fragrant and it easily spills if you knock it over. Just buy cedar planks instead.

These are so handy and easy to maintain. They smell amazing and the size makes it easy to tuck them into drawers or totes without the mess. Great alternative to stinky mothballs. Some tips when using cedar: use it like you would mothballs. Airtight containers and small enclosed areas otherwise it will not work. It needs to fumigate. For large closets or spaces these are not practical and you would be better off with installing cedar panels or investing in a cedar chest. I have two of these in a large storage chest I store my wool in and they work. Almost too good. Everytime I open the chest you get blasted with the scent of a cedar forest which is exactly how I want my cedar to work. All my sweaters smell amazing. I refresh the cedar about every 3 months so they last a pretty good amount of time. I definitely recommend these to replace mothballs.

Pros- Cedarwood chips naturally repel moths and other insects, keeping clothes safe- Includes 6 reusable tins, making it easy to place in various storage areas- Comes with a free 1oz enhancing spray to boost the cedarwood scent- Helps to deodorize and freshen closets, drawers, and wardrobes- Non-toxic and eco-friendly, offering a safe alternative to chemical repellentsCons- Scent may not last as long as expected without regular refreshing- Some users might find the cedarwood smell too strong or overwhelming- Requires periodic reapplication of the enhancing spray for optimal effect- The tins may take up space in smaller drawers or closets- Higher cost compared to other moth repellent solutions such as sachets or sprays

A whole closet made of cedar, wow! That was my reaction when observing a model home that was custom designed by two artistic individuals. I was inside a home that was being sold by my father and although this was over twenty years ago, I still remember most of the property in decent detail. For some reason that cedar closet, or more like a pantry, really caught my attention. Years later when I began using cedar for natural pest protection with moths being the focus, I remembered that pantry and how it has influenced my new exploration of cedar-based pest prevention products.I was excited to see a new format I have not tried out yet from the Dr. Killigans brand. This is a simple yet brilliant concept of placing fresh cedar shavings into tiny tin jars with holes on the top. What makes this brands product even more effective and long lasting is the Cedar Ward spray that's included. This special spray is meant to rejuvenate the cedar chips inside the can after every 45-90 days. That is the time frame and directions given on the included printout, which has a breakdown of the recommended usage. I like how there is a fresh seal over the openings of each tin so as to keep everything super fresh. Before using this kit, I was using the slabs of cedar that you have to shave periodically with sandpaper, to renew the cedar properties that deter pests.I have never really had a moth issue, so I can't comment in detail on the before and aftereffects, but I do love the lingering cedar scent that will stay there if you place on of these in a drawer. I mainly have these Dr Killigans tins in my closets.Being that the cedar pantry at that home I mentioned had nothing to do with clothes; I am pretty certain cedar works to keep all kinds of pests away, not just the moths I am using these neat tins for.The price of this kit is reasonable for how many tins you get. I recommend this cedar shaving kit.
