This is by far the best option I have found. Higher quality than the subscription meals that are delivered and better than just home cooking and no doubt better than the pet store kibble or frozen. Trust me,, I've been through them all. This smells like oatmeal with fruit and vegetables!!I have a senior pup with allergies and with this I can choose my own protein and add other veggies too. It is somewhat costly but not outrageous. Offers organic ingredients. When prepared it has a very good consistency. Not dry or too wet. Recommend!!

In mid 2021, my 80 lb retriever/chow mix dog was diagnosed with early stage chronic kidney disease. His Creatinine and BUN levels were elevated on the normal/high border. He also had other markers indicating the disease. I switched to Dr. Harvey’s and immediately noticed a difference in my dog’s energy level and it was evident he was feeling much better. This was significant! Note, I also add Cordyceps, Astragalus and Rehmannia root extract to his food to support his kidneys, as well as bone broth I make in the crockpot and freeze into cubes to add to the food. He has also had 3 knee surgeries on both rear knees, and has arthritis. His mobility also has improved greatly. He’s now 13 and will be 14 in a month and was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma two months ago. The only symptoms were his lack of appetite and lethargy. I assumed at the time it was due to his kidney disease progressing, however, his kidney levels were/are perfect! It was his liver levels that were elevated due to the cancer. The Oncologist informed me his muscle mass was great and other than the elevated liver levels, everything else looked very good. She assured me he was a good candidate for treatment, and looked better than most dogs his age. I started him on chemo and he went into full remission within two weeks. When his appetite returned within a few days of treatment, I continued giving him the Dr. Harvey’s. I now can’t keep up with him on walks, and he’s back to chasing rabbits, deer and the local cat. I attribute this to the cancer treatment, daily exercise and his diet. I can’t say enough good things about this food and the extended life it has brought my dog. If I hadn’t switched to Dr. Harvey’s, I’m certain my dog would no longer be with me. The cost is a bit more due to the meat and fish I buy to add to the food, but not terribly expensive and not much more than the prescription kibble the vet recommended (which I feed as a treat on occasion. This allows me to feed him kibble on trips, or if I have to leave him with the pet sitter). It is nothing compared to the vet bills that would have occurred otherwise and my dog feels and looks great! I do recommend swapping out the meat source weekly, though, as my dog has acquired a chicken allergy. I was using nothing but chicken for the first year, and feel this most likely contributed to his allergy.Also...It did take him a bit to warm up to the food at first, so don't give up quickly if your dog turns its nose up. Persistence is everything, and once he figured out that it's better food and tastes better, he devoured it (and still does). This took several attempts and not caving with other food.

I have been using this food for the past two months on my 2 dogs. One of them has early stage 1 kidney disease, as she is losing protein in her urine. She is on medication, Benezapril, and I am going to wait another month or so and then do another urine test specifically for her protein ration (UPC urine test) and see where we are at. My other dog has no kidney issues, but she is on the same food. They both love it, and I like how easy this food is to prepare. I add specific amounts of cooked protein (chicken thigh or hamburger) and then add the Dr. Harvey's fish oil. I hope Amazon continues to supply this food, as I live in Canada and ordering directly through Dr. Harvey's will probably cost more as it has to be shipped to Canada, and then I've been told that there will probably be a "customs duty charge" added onto my order. I get worried as every time I order this through Amazon (twice now) as it indicates the item is "in stock", but then it takes several days until the item is shipped and then I get notice as to when the expected delivery date will be. As another customer mentioned, PLEASE DON'T STOP offering this food as we have little doggies that love it, and most of all need and depend on it :)
