This Dorman OE FIX shift tower is specially designed to help prevent this issue, making sure the shifter stays in gear and the sloppy-feeling shifter is tightened up, leading to predictably firm, positive shifts. Our redesign features more robust construction than the factory unit by utilizing bearing steel rather than low carbon stamped steel. It also reduces wear through specially hardened and coated tool steel in the detents. When using this shift tower, shift throws on the gear selector are also reduced approximately 10 percent. Ordered to replace a worn one that worked, but leaked. After installing it wouldn’t go into reverse. I pulled it out to figure out why and found that the detent lever hits the bottom of the tower and the metal wasn’t fully formed around the bottom of the shifter mechanism. I put the old one back in until I can find a better option.

Nice upgrade to the sloppy factory shifter. The detents with this shifter provide a positive feel. It actually feels more like an old style truck shift which I like for a Jeep. I'll admit it was a little expensive but I would still recommend this upgrade.
