This door viewer is simple and functional but falls short in visual quality. The included hole saw is sharp, correctly sized, and even allows for pilot bit replacement, which is a nice touch. The privacy cover has just the right amount of stiffness, staying in place when positioned but still easy to adjust. However, there’s no gasket or sealant included, so I applied a small amount of caulking behind the exterior portion during installation. The biggest downside is the image clarity. While the wide-angle view is effective for general awareness, details are difficult to make out. In bright daylight, I could see if a person or multiple people were outside, but I couldn’t distinguish finer details—like whether there were any packages on my porch. At night, visibility is reduced to vague shapes and light sources. At the time of review, this viewer is priced at $9, which is a fair bargain given its limitations. If you need a basic and inexpensive option, it gets the job done, but those wanting a clearer, higher-quality view should look elsewhere.

This is a really nice addition to the door. The optics on the peephole are great. I can see out very clearly, but if I look from the other side, it is super blurry. I love the old-school privacy flap on this. The antique brass is in a nice patina and looks much more expensive than this is. I used the included hole drillbit. My door is steel with a foam core. Because I wanted to be extra careful, I worked up to the size of the center drill with super tiny and then slightly larger pilot holes. The included drillbit made quick and clean work of the hole in the metal. Cleaning out the hole took seconds and then the front and back halves just screw together. Be sure to place the flap hinge at the top so that it will always swing down even when it gets looser over time.Great value on this since all you really need is a drill to get this installed.

Comes with everything you need. My interior door was not thick enough and the peephole did not screw in enough to make a tight fit so I had to put some spacers in. Make sure you remove the drill part from the bit once you start the drilling and the bit only fits a regular drill brace..not a Milwaukee cordless drill.

I recently installed the Door Viewer Peephole, 220 Degree Wide Angle, with the accompanying 0.63 Inch/16mm Drill Bit Kit, and I have to say, it has been quite an experience. From the moment I looked through it, I was impressed. The wide, clear view it offers from inside my building is remarkable. I can see the entire double carport and beyond, which is perfect for checking out any strange noises. One of my favorite features is the cover plate that rests on the peephole when not in use. It brilliantly obstructs any attempts from the outside to peek in. When I want to look out, I simply push the raised peg on the bottom of the cover plate to the right or left, making a half circle in the upward direction. Once I'm done, it reverts back to its home position seamlessly.A small tip for those installing: make sure the raised peg is at the bottom position. After frequent use, the cover plate might loosen up, and the peg could follow gravity, resulting in an open view during its resting position.I installed this peephole into a non-treated, taylor-made barn-style wooden door. Although the door isn't exposed directly to outside elements, the carport is open and exposed to humidity, moisture, and extreme temperatures. After the rain last night, I was pleased to see no fog accumulation on the lens.My only issue was with the provided hole drill bit. It struggled to cut more than 8mm into the door. After several attempts, I switched to a paddle/spade drill bit to finish the task. It might have been the type of wood I was drilling into, as it created some gummy sap and smoke, causing the teeth on the provided bit to dull almost instantly. So, having a backup method for creating the hole is advisable.Placement of the peephole is based entirely on your preference and needs. I installed mine at a much lower position than most, since I am short, and it's also off-centered to avoid compromising the integrity of the door by placing the hole directly in the center of one of the studs.Overall, it's a fantastic product with minor installation challenges. Despite the drill bit issue, the wide-angle view and the cover plate feature make this peephole worth the investment. I deducted one star due to the drill bit's quality, but I still highly recommend this product for anyone looking for a reliable door viewer.

This door peephole has the classic antique bronze look and is very elegant on a lot of doors. It features a peephole cover to keep unwanted people from trying to look in the other way.Pros: Can accommodate doors from 1 3/8" to 2 1/6". Comes with a small hole saw to drill your hole. Classic antique bronze look. Peephole cover for the inside of the door. 220 degree, wide angle coverage.Cons: This peephole doesn't have the clarity as one I already own. You can see well enough through it, but it isn't particularly sharp.

I replaced my previous one, and this is s lot better. It's a little wider. It's more clear, and maybe the old one was dirty, even though I cleaned the old one. It's definitely worth the upgrade. I like that it includes a drill bit. Also, I like the cover.
