It took us a little bit to learn how to use this to remove the gunk quickly off the teeth. Now that we do, it's pretty fast. I also noticed the tartar took longer to come back than when I was scraping it off manually without the sonic. Don't love the high pitched sound, but able to deal with it to avoid a full dental with sedation at the vet. Sedation is the expensive part of the dental and it's hard on our dog's bodies, so that's why we always look to avoid that.

Wow! I've been brushing and scraping my dogs' teeth for years and thought I'd been doing a good job. The light combined with the tool really showed the tiny accumulations of tartar at the gumline, over those little tiny teeth behind the canines and behind the biggest rear molar. And my dog, a sensitive border collie, had no problem at all with the ultrasound. In fact he was more tolerant for a longer time of the ultrasound than just brushing. Lots of breaks, lots of bits of cheese treats and turning UP the intensity for the calculus and DOWN the intensity on areas that where cleaner and had very little or no calculus. On the just stained areas I used the lowest setting without complaint from my elderly dog. The tool is surprisingly easy to handle. The hardest part was holding his gums away from his teeth while cleaning, using only 2 hands. Again, he's had a lifetime of me brushing and scraping his teeth so he is used to it. But wow! The light, I love how helpful it is! And Mr Sensitive Border Collie? Kept coming back for more (cheese treats & ultrasound). Much Much easier, faster and more effective than I'd ever hoped.

Works so good on my two dogs! If you're looking for a cheaper route to clean your dog's teeth then this is it. Cleaned my two dog's teeth so well. The noise level is not bad at all. Durability is good, does not feel cheap at all. Very easy to use and the instructions are easy to understand. Also, I love the design!

This cleaner works well for removing dark tartar on my medium-sized dog after just one use. We focused on her canines and it was visibly brighter after one cleaning. The wand was easy to handle but be warned, expect heavy vibration and high-pitched whirring sounds during the process, though that may be typical for similar devices. The minus one star is for poor labeling because the actual item didn't match the description and said this was for human use, that was confusing. These issues aside, it’s a solid tool for dental cleaning compared to the hundreds we would've paid for a vet to clean her teeth.

This was much easier to use than I expected. It worked very well and saved me an expensive trip to the vet for a teeth cleaning for my dog. Aside from cost, I don't like to take my dog to the vet for teeth cleanings because they typically give them anesthesia which I don't believe is good for them on a regular basis. This cleaner was very gentle and worked quickly to remove the tartar on my dog's teeth. It was so gentle that my dog fell asleep while I was using it to clean. I would definitely recommend!

I wish I had taken before and after photos - this doggie tooth cleaner totally exceeded my expectations. My skittish little Sheltie tolerated the procedure so well, she let me put the cleaner near her and in her mouth - it was so quiet, barely made any noise at all and she must have thought I was just "touching" her teeth. Large chunks of tartar build up came away and she has shiney, pretty canines again. Definitely, highly recommend this instrument - SOOO much less expensive and less dangerous than teeth cleaning at the vet's office!

I used this on my Aussie and the second it touched her tooth it made a horrid high pitched sound. She hated it and I don’t blame her at all. Sadly I’ll be returning it as it even bothered my ears so I wouldn’t force her to tolerate it either.

Our golden, Sadie, needed a dental cleaning badly. Being a soft-mouthed dog she will not chew on bones or toys to help keep her teeth clean. Brushing wasn't getting the job done completely. The vet quoted us over $800 for a teeth cleaning. I saw this product and gave it a try. We are VERY happy with this product. Sadie is a good girl and lets us handle her mouth. That being said, I can see where a dog that isn't as good as she is might pull back when the unit touches the teeth. You can't tell if the unit is on until it touches a tooth. Yes, we tried it. When it touches a tooth it vibrates just like a sonic toothbrush. There isn't any sound when the unit is on until it touches the tooth but even then it is very low, quieter than a sonic toothbrush. When it touched her tooth she slightly pulled back not from pain but from surprise but quickly realized it wasn't going to hurt her.The unit has 4 settings. We started with the lowest and had to work up to the 3rd setting. It was removing tarter on each of the lower settings but you had to repeat the area you were treating. When we progressed to the 3rd setting it then quickly started removing the built-up tarter making the process quicker and easier on Sadie. You need to slightly scrape the tooth at the bottom edge of the buildup being careful not to go into the gums. It was easy. We were able to clean 5 teeth to begin with. We decided to give her a break and do a few teeth per day until they were all clean. We also started on the front of the teeth knowing that working on the back of the teeth would be a bit more challenging, but it was still doable as she became more familiar with the routine. Her breath was better after the first session. The unit is rechargeable and held its charge and full power through 4 sessions before we choose to recharge. It is easy to clean. As of yet, we haven't needed to use any of the other tools that came with the unit but they are of good quality. We are very happy with this product. It has saved us over $800. Yes, it does take a bit of time to get the teeth clean but I estimate we worked on her about 15 minutes per session. Now brushing is easier and her breath is good and her teeth all white.
