These grooming tools are very useful. I use them on my cat who is a short hair but has issues reaching different areas to groom. These do a great job of busting those stubborn mats and I don’t need to cut them off like I used to. The larger sized tool didn’t work on her as well as the double-sided tool did. It makes short work of the mats and you can’t tell that she had any issues with fur clumps afterwards. It’s a major victory.

He is a nightmare to groom. He mats horribly. I’ve tried everything out there but this is the best. I have to sneak up on him and do a little at a time. But this tool is wonderful. I get a lot done in a little time. Tons of hair and mats come off easily without hurting him. It is the double sided one that I use. I highly recommend this tool.

I'm sure this is probably excellent tools, but for my 2 Mini Schnauzers, it was just too harsh. They weigh 13 & 15 lbs. and neither would tolerate either tool. It pulled their skin. My thought is these are probably better suited for medium to large dogs. I will note that the picture on the packaging shows 2 small dogs?? However, they are very sturdy and well made.

I love these tools! I’ve tried several methods of removing mats from my very thick long haired cat which didn’t remove the mats and annoyed her greatly. She didn’t mind these because it didn’t tug on the mats. Also tried it briefly on one of my dogs who is blowing her incredibly thick undercoat in literal handfuls (every year around the holidays-it makes no sense!) She doesn’t have mats but holy moly the fur on everything! She wasn’t as cooperative (would not stand still-never does) but did get a fair amount of hair off her. These seem very sturdy as well as effective.

I have a long haired cat who HATES being brushed. Recently, she got sick and stopped grooming for a few days. (Shes all better) Well, that started the matts.. they’re so many. We bought this and amazingly she doesn’t mind it! Now they for sure need to be way sharper! She doesn’t like when a matt is under it and it’s pulling instead of cutting. We were able to dematt her spine area, but the lower sides and her belly have been unsuccessful bc it won’t cut, it gets stuck and pulling hurts her. So while these have helped and are continuing to help keep the matts from starting (around her spine area) we have booked an appointment to have her shaved. After this, we will continue to use these tools to keep them from coming back as her hair grows. My only issue is that the parts that should be sharp, are not sharp enough. It should just cut the hair with a little pressure being applied. It shouldn’t get stuck and pull on the animals hair.I’ve also used both on my short haired cats and it doesn’t do anything. They don’t have matts and their hair is smooth so it just glides through without taking any hair off.

I am a professional groomer; the dematting comb is great. I'm able to get a lot of tangles out with it and it doesn't hurt the dog. The deshedding rake on the other I don't particularly care for it. I feel like it snags the hair and can potentially hurt the dog. The furminator is way better and glides through the hair smoothly compared to this tool. Love the comb but hate the rake.

I have two long haired English Setters who run through the farm fields daily and are usually covered in some type of stick-tights. The dematting comb works really well at separating the hairs making it easier for the stick-tights to come out. It is sharp, so you have to use it properly. I have found that a lighter touch actually makes it easier. They still don't like that it pulls, but it's the best item I've found so far, without just shaving all tangles off. The rake is also great at getting excess hair off of them. It's meant for thick long hair or double coated, so it would not do anything for a short haired dog. It's the first tool that my male doesn't actually mind for a bit. It was worth the money to me.

Love, Love Love this!!!! I have a Maine coon kitty that would not let me brush him so he had knots that I had to cut out before I got this item, and he had bald spots all over him that looked terrible. This tool takes out tons of hair and he lets me use it. I don't know why but when I switch brushes or combs on him he starts to growl, I don't know how he knows the difference! It keeps his knots at a minimum, and with the 2nd tool, the one with the longer metal pieces, I am able to remove the knots totally, except for his belly which he still will not let me brush, so if I feel a knot, I just cut it out, while my husband holds him. This is the best grooming tool I have found for my long haired cat, however, I have a short haired kitten and it will not even go through her hair because it's too short. So as I LOVE this item for my Maine coon, and could not live with out it, I would not buy it if you have a very short haired animal. For long haired animals, and to remove knots, it works great!
