If you want your salinity in specific gravity, you will need to convert using salinity and temperature. This will give you a number in parts per thousand (eg. 34.9 ppt), and in aquariums you will need to know specific gravity (eg. 1.024).There are conversion charts and tables online.I did NOT calibrate, but am getting accurate readings. Calibration looks like a PAIN.

I bought this salinity meter for my aquarium. I would like to provide a great marine environment for sea-fishes. This meter is really user-friendly that not too much professional knowledge is needed. And it is much more accurate than my old salinity meter.

Way too inaccurate for use with a reef or saltwater fish aquarium. I used a refractometer to confirm samples of 1.019 and 1.026 sg, which measured 30 ppt and 30.3 ppt with this meter. Even if my refractometer is off, those are very different salinities that should not be measuring that similarly. Unit was rinsed clean between uses and tested a couple more times to make sure it was not operator error. Same results.
