The cheap plastic battery and weight door on the back break off immediately when you try to put the batteries in and take the weight out. The instructions are nothing they're cryptic like by somebody with English as a second language they don't even tell you what the calibration weight is. They don't give you proper instructions it'll allow you to properly calibrate the scale and then when I put a silver dollar on the scale it weighed like five times as much as it should. This scales these are this is unusable junk.

Make sure the scale temperature has equalized with the room before using. I got it on a cold winter day and tested it the same day and found the readings drift badly. After a couple hours it stopped doing it. Once calibrated with the provided weight it seems accurate and repeatable. It does not way much less than a gram very well. Also seems like it doesn't respond to small weight changes

This is a nice scale, and it does appear to be pretty accurate. More than that, unlike a lot of scales, this scale is able to be calibrated if it's not reading accurate. It comes with a 100g weight for this purpose, and the first thing you'll want to do is weigh that weight. Maybe your scale made the shipping to you without any problems, but it's also probably more likely that it's going to be off just a little. For reference, it's not likely to be off by a ton, but since you can calibrate this there's no reason for it to be off at all.Take the 100g weight, and weigh it. Mine came in at ~100.20g, so a little off. Again, that's parts of a gram at 100g, but let's fix it.There are instructions for calibration in the pdf manual on this page, but I'll explain them here so you don't have to go find them.1) Start with the scale on a nice flat surface (if it wobbles use the adjustable feet to level it). Start with the scale off.2) Turn the scale on.3) Press and hold the 'unit' key until 'CAL' comes up on the screen. It will then show the weight 500.004) You have a 100g calibration weight, so unless you also have a 500g calibration weight, use the 'tare' key to select the 100.00 option for your 100g weight.5) Press the 'unit' key to enter calibration. The screen will flash 'CAL'6) Place your 100g calibration weight on the scale. The screen should change to 100.00, maybe flash a few times, then show the word 'PASS' and return to 100.007) Remove the calibration weight and store it in the appropriate storage compartment on the bottom of the scale. Your scale is now calibrated.Once your scale is calibrated it should be good to go. If I was ever curious if it was still calibrated, I'd just weigh my 100g calibration weight.

This is a good mid-price scale at $30. It is much more precise and accurate than most "pocket" scales in the $20 range, but not quite as nice as the slighter larger $80 "lab" scales. The two main differences between this scale an an $80 scale is the lack of an AC or USB power adapter option, and just a bit of precision and accuracy.Overall, I was very surprised at how accurate and precise this scale was, but it needs to be calibrated after being off for a while or moved around. Also, it tends to fall out of calibration more quickly than the more expensive lab scales. I posted one photo where the 100g weight suddenly started reading about 0.1g light, and it stayed that way until I calibrated it again. Afterwards; it would be fine for several weighings and then start reading light again.I like how the calibrarion weight fits into the bottom of the scale. That is very clever, and again, to be clear, once calibrated, this scale will hold its own against the more expensive lab scales. Only 4 stars though for its tendency to fall out of calibration where, without keeping a 100g weight handy, you really wouldn't know when it happens. It is possible that the scale was still acclimating to the room as I started playing with it as soon as I brought it into the house, but it wasn't notably warmer or colder outside that day than inside.
