I used this to convert my son's 2011 Nissan Frontier from mechanical to electric cooling. It couldn't have been easier to install, and is still working leak free months later. Great product, especially at this price point.

It is made of softer aluminum and you can strip threads if you aren't careful. Other than that it works great. I used it as a coolant drain and a 2nd one as a distribution for a coolant pressure sensor (never know when a head gasket is going to go) for my turbo BMW E46 325ci. This thing works great, doesn't leak so long as you use coolant-compatible sealant on the threads and properly torque them, and comes with 2 hose clamps. Make sure to tighten the hose clamps with a ratchet and not just a screwdriver- screwdrivers slip and don't put enough torque to hold a coolant hose together under the pressure a cooling system is at while operating.

Splice was easy to install. Good quality build lightweight and worth the price. No issues of any kind other than a very vage set of installation instructions. The instructions need to be a little more informative then what they are. The description of the product needs to be revalued and better described. The description needs to point blank state weather it uses a electronic sensor or a manual sensor. Overall a great product

Sizing was a bit snug. Seems well made. Does what it's supposed to. No leaks. Fans turn on and off like they're supposed to. Don't forget that it needs to be grounded separately.

So I wish I had seen the other comments but when measuring for the product size, I measured ~38mm on my CJ5's radiator. With that, I ordered 38mm on the part. The part actually measures just over 35mm on the pipe's OD even when you order 38mm. Apparently 38mm refers to the flared portion at the end. Since your cooling system can be under pressure in a closed system, this is dangerous and could randomly separate or over-compress the hose if I were to use this.I ordered the next size up 40mm and it will be here to complete the project (hopefully). Outside of that, this product looks decent and will do what I need it to for my 2 speed radiator fan install.

My opinion and experience with size selection (review at the end):You want a snug fit (a little resistance when attaching the hose). Measure the inside diameter of the section of the hose you will be splicing it into. If that isn't an option because you'd have to cut the hose and you can't have your car down for a couple of days, then measure the outside diameter and subtract the thickness of the hose wall X2. Based on the measured inside diameter of the hose, select the adapter that is the next size up (+2mm). You may be able to get away without going slightly up in size, but the clamps will really have to bring it down and while it might not leak, the seal wouldn't be the best. USE YOUR OWN DISCRETION this is my personal recommendation based on my experience:The ID of my radiator hose was approximately 31.7mm and at the very least you should round that number up, so I ordered a 32mm adapter. Upon fitting it, it was appropriately sized, but it wasn't a snug fit and without clamps it would easily fall out. I was concerned about the seal because of how much you would have to tighten the clamps. I decided to order a 34mm and it worked out great. I could have easily used 36mm as well, but since my radiator hose was not new I left room to take into account that my old hose was probably expanded slightly. Great time to just replace the whole hose! Even though you may have to cut it depending on your application.Installation Review:Installation was easy. You will need to make a small grounding wire to attach from the small screw on the adapter to somewhere on the car frame or engine. If you have them, you may want to use hose clamps that are a little beefier than the clamps provided. I used this with an aftermarket Bosch water temp sensor and gauge, using Teflon tape on the sensor threads before installing it into the adapter. I cut out a small section of the upper radiator hose (hot side, using razor blade) to install the adapter. I would install it as close to the engine water outlet as you can. After installation be sure that none of the modified hose sits above the top of the radiator in order to help keep air from getting trapped in the system. One month after install:Everything is perfect. Great product.

The anodized aluminum body of this part is really nicely machined and finished. The ground screw is also handy. It really works very well for adding a temp sensor with 1/8" NPT threads to your radiator hose. The reasons for only three stars are: 1) the diameter of the part is not really equivalent to the inner diameter of the hose that the part fits. The 'nipple' on the end of the connector is equal to the part's stated diameter, but the flat part of the tube behind this nipple is less than the part's stated diameter. This means if you have a 34 mm ID hose and buy a 34 mm ID part then the part will be too small. You want the flat part of the connector area to be equal to the hose ID and so you have to add 2 mm (the height of the 'bump' at the nipple) an order a 36 mm ID part. If your hoses are older and a bit stretched you may want to get even larger like 38 mm. Measure your actual hose and buy 2mm larger than that. I had to order and return and re-order to get one to fit. And loss of star # 2) the hose clamps are not very good quality. They are thin in the width and not very thick. I had trouble getting them to seal once the radiator hose had built up pressure. I had to replace them with "proper" stainless steel band clamps since I don't want this temp sensor to be a weak link. SO, buy this part and use your own clamps and get the one that is labeled as being 2 mm larger than the actual measured inner diameter of your radiator hose.
