This is a nifty automotive temperature/voltage gauge. The gauge is pretty simple, a small multi-color display shows temperature on the left and voltage on the right. The gauge has an “alarm function” which alerts you if either value exceeds a set level.Installation is simple and straightforward, the gauge is powered by a two-conductor cable which is connected to your electrical system, typically to the AUX switch or to a circuit that is not powered when your vehicle is turned off - so as not to drain the battery. The temperature is monitored by a small brass 1/8” NPT sensor that screws into your radiator. The cable connecting the temperature sensor has two-barrel style connectors at the sensor which makes routing the cable easier.I ordered this to monitor the temperature of hydraulic fluid in a mini excavator that has a hydraulic oil cooler. This worked well, although the 1/8” NPT sensor required a bushing to match the metric port in the radiator. (The radiator came with a sensor installed and no gauge, unfortunately, this unit uses a different type of sensor so connecting it to the existing sensor did not work. The included sensor works fine.)At the time of my order this kit was priced around $15, which I consider a good value.

It took a few minutes for the temperature to stabilize but once it does, it is fairly accurate. There was about 1-2 degrees difference between the reading of the gauge and the actual temperature at 60 degrees. I bought this to monitor the hydraulic oil cooler temperature on my excavator but it appears to be intended to be installed in the interior of a vehicle or in an enclosed cab. I will try it anyways since this is a cheap enough gauge to replace if water ends up destroying it.My only complaint is that the polling rate is way too high. The display updates the temperature every 1/2 second or so, so the gauge jumps around +- 2 degrees every time it polls.

I had a hole in my radiator and the coolant ran out, and the engine was destroyed. $6000 repair where it happened, would have been $10,000 in the city. Something like this can prevent that sort of problem.
