My front yard landscaping lights needed a new transformer, and this DEWENWILS model was the perfect replacement. The installation was simple; I just transferred the wires from the old unit to this one. It's equipped with a photocell sensor and timer, making it very user-friendly. Converts 120V AC to 12V/14V AC efficiently, and the weatherproof design ensures it can handle outdoor conditions. Everything works as expected, lighting up my house without any issues.

While it seems very heavy duty and well built, has lots of really nice features (e.g. various ON-OFF settings, remote photocell, etc.), it has one potentially fatal flaw. It doesn't have any marking that it's been tested and rated safe to use by either of the two U.S. Government recognized and accredited testing laboratories: Underwriters Laboratory (UL), or even the second tier Intertek (ETL) based on my reading of ETL's own website. Thus, you have no independent, recognized, and qualified organization testing and certifying this product is safe (e.g. it won't shock or electrocute someone nor burn your house down). So I can't recommend it. If you do chose to use this product, I suggest you take at least the following safety precautions: 1) plug it into a COMBINATION Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) / Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI) outlet which will reduce the chance of getting shocked, electrocuted, or starting a fire, and 2) keep anything that can catch fire away from the transformer (e.g. dry plant material, fallen leaves, wood, ) in case it overheats, has an electrical arc, etc. Alternately, you could have more piece of my getting an identically sized, brand name transformer from one of the national home centers that is UL and ETL Listed for safety, though it will cost twice as much.

I was immediately impressed with this power supply when I opened the box. It is heavily built and should gives years and years of service. It will provide 12 or 14 volts DC, which can power a LOT of exterior yard lighting. I'm using this on my new music building. The connections are clearly labeled, and wires attach securely. The plastic case should do a great job of protecting internal components in harsh weather conditions. The display is nice and bright, with large figures. It's easy to program, and you can let it run automatically by using the light sensor to detect dawn and dusk off/on switching, or set a timer to turn the power off after the selected number of hours.

I have quite a bit of low voltage lighting throughout my landscaping and currently use three 300W transformers to drive the lighting. This transformer offers the same functionality as my other transformers with a couple of added feature. This product offers overload/short circuit protection as well as a weatherproof external display. Its nice to have all the displays on the outside where you can easily see the time and which mode you are currently using. Installation is straightforward and easy with solid connections. The transformer runs cool and the build quality appear to be high quality.
