Cuts threw dirt great, but gets stuck and won't hammer. Had to pry loose.

Compared to the round shaped spade blade (Bosch), this flat head spade blade is very effective on cutting a flat edge along a walkway, as well as flattening the bottom of the walkway. It is also handy to dig out a temporary steps down the slope. The blade is sharp and hard enough to cut through small rocks (3-4 inchs) using an 8.6ft/lbs' Makita HM0871C demo hammer -- doesn't work on bigger rocks though. I will expect it will also be good to dig out trenches. In contact, the round shaped spade blade better fits to dig a hole for planting tree.Got the Dewalt spade blade on sale, that's another germ. :-)

This hammer drill spade is very cost effective compared to a Bosch. The design specs are nearly identical at about a 40% lower price. And for digging in hard clay, it works like a charm. Trouble free, I expect it to last quite a while.I would not do my digging job without it.

I had a shovel bit that I wore down to almost nothing. I bought a off brand at harbor freight and it snapped in half. I hope this one lasts as long as the first one I had.

I tried this bit on my Dewalt D25901 Demo Hammer..but had to take the tool to a service shop to release the bit..twice...the problem is that the grooves on this bit are slightly different from the standard bit..narrower. .it goes in easily but cannot be released without dismantling the tool.

I've done a lot of digging in my front hard with this thing, and it's lasted quite long compared to anything cheap set you can get at harbor freight. I've reground and sharpened the edge maybe 5 or 6 times already, and it hasn't shattered yet. Seems like the steel is at least decent.
