The Interior and Exterior Rotary Construction Laser Level is accurate to 1/4 inches at 100 feet. It is constructed to withstand rugged jobsite conditions with a durable rotary cage that helps protect the head if dropped. An innovative configuration of multiple thin struts maintains the unit's strength while eliminating blind spots. The laser level for picture hanging is self-leveling in horizontal mode, and in vertical mode, arrow buttons used for manual leveling are more intuitive than traditional knobs. Sharp and bright, the beam can be seen up to 100 feet indoors, and can be recognized at up to a 1200-foot diameter outdoors with the included detector. The laser also offers a weather-resistant housing for durable and accurate performance. Product uses 9V Lithium Ion batteries and 2 D Batteries for the detector.

The new DW074KD self-leveling interior/exterior rotary laser from DEWALT is not only accurate to plus or minus 1/4 inch per 100 feet, but it's built to take the bumps of the job site as well. A durable rotary cage helps protect the rotary head when dropped and an innovative configuration of multiple, thin struts maintains the unit's strength while eliminating blind spots. And it's easy to use! The unit is self-leveling in horizontal mode, and the addition of arrow buttons used for manual leveling in vertical mode are far more intuitive than traditional knobs. The beam is bright and sharp--it can be seen up to 100 feet indoors and can be detected up to 1000 feet in diameter outdoors. The laser also offers a weather resist housing which offers a durable and accurate service. The new DW0742 laser detector and clamp will locate the beam up to 1000 feet (diameter) from the laser. The DW074KD includes the self-leveling laser, DW0742 detector and clamp, DW0740 wall mount, target card, DEWALT contractor's bag, and (2) "D" batteries / (1) 9V battery.

I purchased this for a job to build a pole garage. I'm always skeptical of anything laser, so I still run levels and double check the laser often. This laser was within 1/8-1/4 inch at 25', but it was due to the transmitter having too much play between where it finds the beam and where the beam actually hits the center mark on it.I really like this for unit for cutting post tops even with one another and setting very long beams, that can't be adjusted after being raised and set.Having the wall bracket allowed me to mount this unit on my posts and forgoing the tripod for most of the job. It even allowed me to set all my siding at the same height all around the parameter.I will never give up my levels and I will never fully trust a rotary laser to the accuracy I expect, but for rough framing, it comes very close to being perfect.As for the unit itself, I purchased this one over many other's because, of it's simplicity and two button operation. I functioned all these years without one, and did very well, so this just enhances my ability to work alone and have another way to get things level and plumb.The feature I love the most- being able to use regular D batteries and not having to worry about using my Dewalt batteries on this unit.Overall, it's a very basic unit that us middle age carpenters love due to the straight-forwardness and ease of use.

Some tools from Dewalt I are good, some tools are great, this one fits solidly in the great category.When I went shopping for a laser detector combo, I was looking for a tool that I could use with home construction for my own home. The Contractor that I had for the construction portion of our home rented an expensive tool for the foundation. I wanted something similar for my own use throughout the project, but I wasn't interested in spending 3 k on a rotary level, and at the time there wasn't alot of options for inexpensive rotary level and detectors (Bosch has a nice looking one now for a little bit more money). I took a chance on this one, and it has proven to be an outstanding tool.The auto leveling is a must have feature. I have used it for yard leveling, driveway construction, retaining wall building, lawn grading, drainage pipe trenching... list goes on. When I start a project, I just set it up as the first tool and there is stays, faithfully reporting the level. I bought a bosch extending stick, but its heavy, so I took a piece of 1x2 wood and graduated and it has been my go to level stick, unless I need to go over 5 feet.It would be nice if it fit the DeWalt battery, but the D batteries last quite a while.The detector is loud, almost too loud (meant for when machinery is running), I put a piece of tape over it to make it less obnoxious.

I purchased this set up YEARS ago, and it has been "through the wringer", as they say. One tough ombre, for sure, and if I needed another one on the job site, I would get the latest version of the same DeWalt Laser Level that I purchased over a decade ago. It's THAT Great of a tool.!.!.!

Very good quality and accuracy. Easy to setup and use.Really wish it didn’t take D batteries and rather worked in 10v Dewalt battery. Seem like a poor dedication actually!

I have a regular transit and I haven't checked to see how level this thing really levels itself yet, but for everything I've had to do it has work fantastic, it works just like it should.I'm not an engineer so I don't know what kind of sophisticated electronic engineering went into this bad boy, it seems like it might be overpriced, but it does exactly what I want it to do, and it was the most affordable one I could find that I might actually trust to do the job. It levels itself in seconds and starts spinning.In the daylight I can't see the laser, but the included sensor picks up the line just fine, and the beep is loud enough to hear fine over the sound of a running backhoe. (its pretty darn loud)Works fine inside a building, wish it had a remote to turn it on and off.

Lightweight, portable, accurate, reasonably priced. Carrying case works well. I've used heavy duty rotary lasers that were very expensive. This one is plastic and not as tough but will do the job just as well as the pricey ones. Just be careful not to drop it and keep it very clean. Should last forever. Runs on D batteries which is great. Used it to set forms and grade footings on several jobs so far and it has worked out well. Price is reasonable.
