Love this set, I have used everyone of them, you can re-sharpen them when they get dull, comes with allen key and screw bits as well yo hold the feeder in place.. However they are not strong enough to really chew through nails, better to find them first and remove what you can. The price of the kit was more than fair and a great starter kit for your home plumber or wood shop worker.

Nice set of augers. Durable, includes tools and replacement tips. Though it comes with a 6" extension I all so bought the 12" quick extension.

I had just purchased the 2-1/8" and 2-9/16" bits in another brand from my local Lowes store and came home to compare the prices on Amazon. I found that this 7-bit kit was nearly the same price as what I'd just paid for two bits at Lowes. Like other reviews have stated, the photo shows a 2-cutter design and the bits I received were a 1-cutter product. The product I purchased at Lowes was a 3-cutter design and I did use it to bore about 12-15 holes through 2x lumber and then used the same size Dewalt to bore about 30 more holes. Here is what I'll say about the comparison between the two bits:1) The 3-cutter doesn't bore any faster than the Dewalt 1-cutter, mainly because the speed of the bore depends on the screw tip pilot design that pulls the bit through the wood and the strength of the drill being used. I will say that Dewalt bits got much hotter than the 3-cutter from Lowes, so I'm willing to bet that the one cutter doing all the work will wear/dull faster than a bit with 2-3 cutters and it also seemed like my drill had to work a little harder with the Dewalt bits, so I would recommend a strong drill; I'm using a Dewalt DWD460K.2) The screw tip pilot appears to be slightly more recessed into the Lowes bit and/or the tips of the cutter edges extend farther forward on the tool. Whatever the case may be, the Lowes bit finishes its bore more completely whereas the Dewalt bit finishes to the point where the pilot protrudes out the backside of the wood you're boring through and then you need to push on your drill to get it to finish; if you're boring through 16"OC studs or joists, especially overhead, it can sometimes be quite challenging to get the leverage or room to push on the drill. Also, I can't compare this part of the review to another product, but in regard to the smaller bits, I noticed that when boring through thick (>4" thick) lumber that sometimes the bit stops boring and gets stuck in the wood and is somewhat difficult to pull out... not a huge deal in a floor/wall, but if you're boring through a piece of loose wood, it could be a problem to get it out without clamping the lumber to something. What's happening is the woodchips can't escape out of the hole with the smaller bits and get wedged all inside and around the bit essentially trapping it into the hole. Not taking price into consideration, I'd give these Dewalt bits a 2.5 - 3 star rating... factor in the price, I'd give them a 4 - 4.5 star. If you're going to use these bits regularly, I wouldn't recommend them. If you're a weekend warrior and will use them occasionally, they'll be fine... they'll get the job done, but you'll just have to work a little harder.

Love these things. I am sure a serious wood worker knows the differences between different hole saws and their applications. I am not a serious wood worker. But I do like to do minor remodeling jobs around the house. After only ever using smaller drill bits or large diameter circular hole saws, these shank self feed drill bit for large diameter holes is GREAT!. No more burning wood smell from the hole saw. No more plug of wood stuck in a hot hole saw. No more getting the hole saw bound in the hole. No more struggling to keep the hole saw and drill square with your hole. These things just draw them selves through the wood. Love it. May not be a finish quality hole. But hey, for the ease... I wonder if I could use a small drill bit to drill a pilot hole through a door, use a traditional hole saw to create a 1/4 deep groove on either side, and then use this to finish the hole.. alright, that is probably over kill. But, basically, these things are great.

So far, it does it's job well. You're going to have to actually use your muscles to keep things going smoothly. I have drilled maybe 30 holes with the 2 1/8" bit and the threads snapped off when it got away from me. Looks like they will last a long time. Recommend for the price.

Exactly What We Were Looking For!This set of self feed bits is exactly what we were looking for to re-do our staircase. Bits are good and sharp and work perfectly with our DeWalt screw gun. Item arrived on time and in a nice study plastic carrying case to keep them all together in one place. The array of sizes is nice for the price and the sharpener is nice addition to the set. Great buy!
