I purchased this w/ battery and charger because I have DeWalt drill which is outstanding. I had a Ryoby trimmer. It was junk and stopped working well after about dozen uses. Same w/ Ryoby blower. This DeWalt weed eater trimmer is extremely powerful. I had to cut thru very thickly rooted grass to fix a lawn sprinkler. ‘Piece of cake!" Assembles easy (but I’m pretty handy). The instructions are not that good but between them and the picture on the box it assembled in about 25 minutes. With good instructions, would be 7 minutes or less. There’s always youtube. This is not for edging per the instructions, but you can twist it sideways for trimming; but the head doesn’t turn 90 deg for that. It is extremely well balanced and it is long. I’m 5’10.5" and it is great. I think a smaller person -say 5’4" or less, may have trouble guiding it … not sure. Again, it is so very very easy to operate and very powerful. I did not time the battery but it lasted for all the work I had. You will not be disappointed. It’s worthwhile getting a good product to begin with, even if its $20-$40 more. You’ll save over $100 by not having to throw away a poor item.

Is lightweight, and with its battery last at least one hour. So if you are planning on use it for more time, buy another battery. Is worth its value and is easy to maneuver.

My gas trimmer stopped working after a short 3 years and I wanted something easier to maintain yet powerful. This product fit the bill. It’s easy to use and works well. I would recommend this for anyone looking for a solid electric trimmer.

I've been getting good use out of this string trimmer in my yard on grass. I wouldn't expect this to do much with thicker material and the battery only lasts about 30 minutes. My only complaint is that is feels front heavy so over time, I can feel a little soar on my left shoulder. I wish that the weight was shifted back a bit so the handle was more balanced and easier to swing it around. Overall, for the price it is a good small job string trimmer.

Very quiet. No more earplugs! This just arrived an hour and a half ago. The battery didn't come fully charged. I used one of my other 5Ah batteries. That's another thing. The ad says it comes with a 4Ah battery, but it comes with a 5Ah one. It's lightweight. The only thing that affects the weight is the size of the battery. The pole that folds is very sturdy. It only took about 5 minutes to assemble completely. The d-handle is comfortable. The shield is very good. Adequate size. For the head, it operates very well. Obviously, I haven't had to refill it yet. The string is very narrow. But very sturdy and effective. It is more wire-like than any string I have used before. I like it! Being as thin as it is, it's more knife-like when trimming. I got this electric trimmer because of my gas-powered ones, The carbs always mess up over the winter. Seems like every summer I would have to get new carbs. Not to mention the gas. One trimmer uses 50:1 mix, another uses 40:1. And still another uses straight gas. I tried to fire them up last month and none of them worked. Not that they used a lot of gas, but that is one thing I won't have to buy anymore. One word though. The shaft under the head can get clogged when trimming high grass/weeds. But that is with any trimmer. This one is easy to unclog. I think this one is better than the new 60-volt trimmer. No modifications are needed as far as I am concerned. My wife always struggled with my other trimmers, for one reason or another, but I think she is going to like this one.

This is a great product. Does the same work as a professional grade one with an engine. If you have a lot to do you might have to switch batteries. Light yet sturdy and good for tall people like me.

We switched to battery powered as my wife had troubles starting the gas version. This works great and is lightweight, battery lasts about half an hour, I really like how convenient this is and the foldable option is great for storage purposes

5 amp battery lasts for my rural half acre property. I've used it for 15 to 20 minutes and had no issues. It feels heavy on the trimmer/bottom end but is a light weight when compared to gas unit. Very powerful on 'low' (battery save mode). I haven't had to use 'high', and I've cut some (relatively) pretty long grass and thistle. I do own 4 more 5 amp batteries (so I'm not concerned about running out of power) but I'd recommend this set, especially for in town properties.

Very pleased with this trimmer. Plenty of power with dewalt 20v batteries to handle edging and weed eating for my yard. The included 5 amp/hr battery lasted the entire job cleaning up my .4 acre lot with medium duty weed eating, with still half of its capacity in the tank. Such a delight to work with compared to my previous corded trimmer. Feels well built and is very quiet when operating. As others have mentioned, the motor being mounted at the end of the trimmer does make it feel somewhat heavy on your lead arm. So if you’re in particular need of a lightweight option, I wouldn’t recommend this, especially if you have more than 10 minutes of trimming to do at a time. But the benefit of this design is that the Trimmer head glides smoothly from side to side and doesn’t seem to kick back or twist while you are cutting.Overall feels like a good value, especially considering the price of the included battery alone! I am glad to not be dealing with cords or gas and oil anymore, apart from the mower… but even that may change once I trust batteries a little more!
