I used this to wrap around my rubber break line o 63 Fairlane. The over axle bend from exhaust was a little to close for my comfort. I cut a 5" piece in half and zip tied around line. Outer material is rubber, good thickness. About month of use and going good.

DEI 5/8” ID protective sleeve fits snug over 8x13mm hose or 5/16 fuel hose for a diy project on my bmw. The section of hose I was replacing had rotten out and the dealer/parts store were asking too much for that small section of hose that came insulated so therefore i searched up my next best option for heat protecting my own off the shelf fuel line. And it turned out great. Just be aware of the fiber glass fibers inside this shielding which can becomes messy rather annoyingly quickly if it’s your first time handling fiberglass. Be prepared, have gloves when handling this stuff. They give you a rubber like tape to seal off the ends from fraying also to prevent the loose fibers from creating any mess I decided to use marine heat shrink tubing that I had laying around and I must say I’m pleased with the outcome and will be soon doing the remaining part lines covering it with this stuff :)

HARD TO CUT, WITHOUT GETTING LITTLE BITS OF FIBERGLASS SPLINTERING OUT WHEN CUT. BUT IT DID THE JOB .

It's expensive stuff, but well worth it. I use this on my heater hoses, my clutch line, and my A/C lines as they all come just inches from my headers on my LS2 swapped car. No melting, no weird smells. Very happy with them. The friction tape they give you is meant to wrap the ends of sleeve. I do find that over time the friction tape starts to unwind some. If I did it over again (or ever have the hoses off again)I'd still use the friction tape, but I'd try to find some big heat shrink tube. That way you can slide the tube over the friction tape and shrink it down. This would keep it from unwinding and give it a cleaner look.
