Coming from a Humes & Burg cup mute to a Dennis Wick is great. The sound quality improvement is really noticeable! It's night and day difference in the sound quality and projection of your sound. The cup is designed to slide up and down the mute so you can fit it closer to your bell (with less of a gap) for a more muted tone.Not having it weigh down the bell of your instrument makes it easier to use, as well.

Replaced my old cup mute of about 20 years, it now resides on a shelf in my study. This new mute has the new mute smell and feel, but all the same great sound and quality of my old mute.

Used this for a pit orchestra run. Solid construction. I like that the cup slides off so it can fit easier in my gig bag. I also like the felt on the small end. I had some quick changes and it prevented the clunk when being inserted. The only downside is that my bass trombone is already front-heavy and adding this to it for prolonged passages started making my shoulders sore.

Very good quality mute. First one I purchased in 30 years. They’ve come along way. It’s easy and light weight and sounds smooth. Looks nice too. Just joined a jazz band here in St George, Utah after 30 years of not playing the trombone and this makes a great addition to a needed product. I’d recommend. Thanks for making a quality product. That’s hard to find nowadays.

First of all the sound is free, crisp, and "snarly" which is what you want from a straight mute but this one is ideal for bass trombone as it projects well and blends well with the rest of the section. Also , it's more compact and somewhat lighter(helpful on the heavier double trigger bass "bones")----and it is very well in tune throughout the register. Well made and a good price. You can't go wrong with this one.

I'm pleased with this mute. In the past I've always used Denis Wick mutes, and they haven't disappointed. This one is no different, and works really nicely with my bass trombone. Produces a nice metallic tone, right down to pedal Bb. Beyond that it's quite difficult to get a decent sound, but I expected that, and you very rarely see muted pedal notes in trombone parts.It's less expensive than other mutes, and in my opinion, is a very good product, well worth the money, and good value.
