This fit well and was a simple replacement. I prefer original Delta parts over generics.

Been a while since I bought it but I believe it was From Delta so it fit perfectly.

What's to say? You either need this because your faucet is leaking or you don't. This was a genuine part so it fit perfectly. It's always worth going with the delta products on the delta faucets instead of the knock offs. Get the RP4993 gasket/spring kit too while you're at it. Put silicon grease in it too!5 minute fix and no more drips.

When I order for the brand, I want it to be the brand. This was a true Delta part. The only difference was the original had a black colored base, and the new one had a clear colored base, which has/had no functional differences that I know of. The stem is/was brass and not plastic. You can buy the part with the 1/4 turn insert (RP25513) if you feel you have the need to, but the insert is reusable. The reason to replace the whole valve stem assembly is that there are O-ring seals that wear, shrink, become hard, and deteriorate over time. Additionally, the rubber seats that rub on the bottom surface can become hard enough over time and cause wear on the face of the bottom valve surface. The cost of the valve overrules trying to save money and having leaks. Also, always replace the rubber seat and metal spring under the valve as well as the whole valve. Never use metal objects to push the seat and spring; use your finger to gently push the seat and spring into position.

Repairs leaky tap. Expensive for what it is though

Like other reviews and Q&A says, I have a double faucet handle with quarter turn and was able to put in the plastic stopper from my old stem assembly to make this fit. I can also confirm that the brass stem can be rotated inside the white plastic cartridge so that the flat side can be on the opposite side as shown in the product photo. I had to rotate it 180 degrees to make the same shape as my old right-side stem. Without rotating, which is how it was as shipped, it would fit on the left side.1st photo: Fits on the left (as shipped). 2nd photo: Fits on the right (rotated the stem 180 degress).

If the faucet is dripping and won't shut off, first replace the valve seats. On my unit this is replacement part RP4993 and only costs $5 for a pair. If that doesn't work, or the leak is around the faucet handle, you need this part. This is a manufacturer's part and it works well, although it took a full week to arrive.First, turn off the water supply and wrap an old towel around the work area to mop up any spill. Remove the handle with an Allen wrench, then back off the bonnet nut. Grab the stem with pliers and pull it straight out. Installation is the reverse of removal. TIP: I like to put some silicone grease on the threads of the bonnet nut and on the o-ring so it not only seals better but also comes off easier next time. You can also try replacing just the o-ring, but the whole cartridge assembly is cheap enough that I didn't want to bother sizing the ring. Besides, it's cheap insurance knowing that I won't have to do this job again for a few years.

As described. Solid stems compared to the plastic cartridges (for handles with set screws). Just for info these are the replacement cartridges for delta Roman tub rough ins. They are the exact same as the compatible plastic cartridges, specific for knob handles (or other non directional handles)

I called Delta and they insisted that this stem assembly would work for my older Roman tub faucet. I did not have any model number, but they just wanted to know about how old it was (about 12 years) and whether it had handles or knobs (knobs). This unit is nylon with a brass shaft while the old one was all nylon. That was fine since the shaft does not show. They were right. It fit perfectly. I also replaced the seat and spring below the assembly (separate purchase) and I did use a bit of plumbers grease to lubricate the new parts. It is a half turn to full-on as the old unit was, and the instructions tell how to set it up so the off-to-on rotation is the same direction as the old unit. Very smooth and easy to turn once installed, and no leaks.

I purchased this replacement stem due to a small leak most likely caused by our very hard water in our area from our well. To install it you simply remove the faucet handle and unscrew the nut holding the stem in place. Make sure you turn off the water under the sink prior to doing this! the stem lifts straight up and out. If it is sticking you can use a pair of pliers to lift it up. Some stems contain a 2nd piece of plastic in the top as a "sizer" to hold on the handle. Make sure you keep this, as you will need it to add back to the new stem prior to installation. Underneath the stem you will find a rubber seat and spring. If these are compressed you should also replace them while you have the stem removed. Once they are replaced, re-install the stem lining it up with the small guide indentation on the side of the stem. It should go back in exactly as you removed it. Replace the hold down nut and handle, turn the water back on, and the leaks are gone!
