Does the trick, not much to it.Can't understand why it has the black hard plastic backer. If it were softer I could understand it provides some sort of water seal, but it being hard plastic it just provides a black border which matches none of Delta's other accessories.

Didn't have time to shop and bought based on availability. I think it is a quality product but certainly not worth almost $70 for a pice of threaded metal! There are quality alternatives at half the price.

The good:- nice quality and looks goodThe bad:- Overpriced- If the pipe nipple sticks out too far (or too little) you are on your own.Instructions state that the pipe nipple (not included) extends the wall between 1/16" and 3/16". That is only 1/4". Pipe nipples come in 1/2" increments. It is difficult to determine the exact thickness of the wall at rough-in time as it depends on the remainder of the construction. In retrofit cases you have no control. So what do you do if the pipe nipple extends between 3/16" and 7/16"? Delta does not offer a solution. My solution is to add a spacer from a black piece of plastic. It is barely visible, see picture.Delta, if you read this, why don't you include two plastic gaskets, one being 1/4" thicker than the other. That would solve this dilemma.
