This does confuse the hornets and wasps into thinking that there’s already a colony there. However, you need to put up quite a few to protect the most vulnerable areas. However, they are very well-made, rain and snow do not damage them. They are very easy to store And I think they’re a great value for the money.

We live out in the country (on the top of a mountain) and we get a lot of different flying insects, mud wasps and hornets among them. My neighbor purchased some of these and swore by them so I gave them a go. Not only have we not had any mud wasps building nests on the house but the Carpenter bees we had going after the wood trim have completely disappeared as well. They must not want to nest where there are predatory wasps. They do fade after a bit with the summer sun. I do take them down in winter. I did have to replace them again this year, I had a few blow away during a fall wind storm, but I am happy to replace them if they keep the the carpenter bees from destroying the trim without constantly having to spray chemicals. It also keeps the woodpeckers that were going after the bee larvae from pecking/destroying the wood trim to get at them. I just secured them a little better so they won’t blow away. These are far less messy too…if you have ever had to spray, foam into a carpenter bee tunnel and have it come spraying out the numerous other holes back at you, you will understand haha! Plus all you are doing is discouraging the wasps from building their nests on or in the vicinity of your home. No bee or wasp has to die, they just move on to “better pastures.”

We moved to TN and the wasps here are insane! We have so many trying to build nests...some have been successful. We purchased these and placed them in our backyard and front porch, where they seem to congregate the most. It works excellent on our front porch. They no longer try to build nests and when they do sniff around the faux nest they quickly buzz off. In our backyard...totally different story. They actually land on it, stare at me through the window and give me the finger.

One of the most frustrating things in life is having the wrong definition of things. Many years ago i was told that these larger black bees were called black jacks and that they don't sting... that info never challenged i assumed i had black jacks and didnt' think anything of them. Little did i know that what I was thinking were these benign bee were actually carpenter bees and although they were not very agressive against humans (though the queen will sting) and slow moving .. i didnt' realize what they were doing. They made it point to target my pergolla because it was made of a soft wood... these bees like the soft wood and make long tunnels in them to lay their eggs... if you ever see a pile of sawdust randomly it's like not random .. carpenter bees are very distructive. I did some research and found they usually make holes about a quarter inch thick if you follow them you can find where their holes are.. what confusing about these holes is that they will appear as any other screw hole.. Look out for saw dust piles to help you identify them. I found that using an can of foam based pest control with long straws to feed into the holes which should kill the carpenter bees and there after using a wood filler or wooden dowls to plug up the holes. These Bee hive latterns give the illusion that Bees have nested , Carpenter bees see these avoid the area. A very cost effective solution against carpenters bees which are very distructive.

I love these wasp nest decoys! I'm allergic to bees, so I do everything I can to prevent wasps and hornets from building nests near my home. Since I started using these, I haven’t had a single nest built in years! The only thing to keep in mind is that these need to be kept out of the rain to stay effective. I’ve placed mine inside my screened porch and by my covered woodpile, and they work perfectly. If you’re dealing with wasps building nests, I highly recommend these! They’re a simple, effective, and affordable solution.

These look nice as a decoration! They’re not actually working against paper wasps. I still gave them three stars because maybe they helped to relocate the nest? I have three of these nests up pretty close to each other and I still have a nest that grew in a tree in my yard (maybe 20 feet from 2 of the fake nests). The nest is at least not on my deck though where they were building before. I still see yellow jackets circling as well as those nest in the ground.

We were having some issues with wasps on our upper and lower decks that we just built. I knew about the paper bag theory, but from what I have seen, it didn't work as well for keeping them at bay. Saw these and thought I would give it a try for the price! Well, I can tell you these ABSOLUTELY work. The only caveat is you MUST hang them BEFORE you see any wasps. It's apparently a territorial thing, if they have already built a nest and you hang this, they will not leave as they were "there first." I have watched wasp after wasp fly over and when they see the decoy nest- they beeline out of there!! Also seems to work for other larger flying insects, maybe they are afraid of wasps! We have been able to enjoy our deck with people over and not have one wasp dive bombing our friends. Price point is great too, with 6 pack, I have been able to give some to my friends with pools and lake homes. Works like a charm! AND being cloth-like material and not paper, it has survived wind, sleet, rain and snow. 100% recommend!
