Wish I had this when I was younger. Maybe I would not have the hearing issues. Too many loud amplifiers. This is great for making sure you are not cranking too loud.

Very accurate, and good to use in any work environment. Its nice to see real time noise levels around coal feeders and boiler feed pumps at the plant. Comes with a carry bag, but i plan on using a small hard case to keep it safe from drops or damage.

Being a basement dwelling, misfit musician, I'm concerned with sound levels. Also, some YouTube music video creators have dB meters while demoing gear. I have drums and guitar amp and don't want hearing damage.According to some online charts, extended exposure to > 85 dB could be harmful. Now I can set my amp to stay in the 80's. Was pretty close and only had to nudge it down a hair. It also seems accurate from room silence (furnace not running) - ranging between ~26 to 34.Pick 1 is how the box arrived - it was 1/2 out of the box and the included screwdriver and batteries were scattered in the delivery bag. It does seem to be completely functional with 2 minor issues. The pop filter is slightly indented on one side but will probably be fine over time. The carry bag has some scuffs - notice the line in the upper 1/3rd of pic 2 - that is scuffed. Again no big whoop and seems to be from where it was sitting out side the box during shipping.

My husband loves the DURFICST decibel meter. He’s been having lots of fun with it. You can test your vacuum cleaner, speakers, car or truck, kids yelling, baby crying, musical instrument, etc. You can measure in real time and even record the maximum sound level of any noise source at your workplace, at home, or in your neighborhood. It’s a very cool scientific tool at a great price that you can use professionally on the job or simply for amusement. This sound level meter requires 3 AAA batteries, which they were nice enough to include. They even provide a little screwdriver for unscrewing and securing the battery compartment. It comes in a box with an instruction booklet, and it also has a cloth bag if you want to keep it in that. It's a good-looking decibel meter with a teal blue plastic case and a quality windproof foam microphone on top. It has an ergonomic design with soft silicone handholds. The sound meter seems pretty accurate, with a detection range of 30-130 dB. Some people say that sones are a better measure than decibels because sones are linear (2 sones is twice as loud as 1 sone) as opposed to decibels which are logarithmic (66 decibels is twice as loud as 60 decibels). This instrument has a digital readout showing the noise level in either decibels or sones, as well as a color-coded gauge chart depicting where the sound is within the green, yellow, and red zones.

This is a versatile sound level meter that can accurately access the sound levels from 30db all the way up to 130db with a claimed accuracy of +/-1.5db. Accuracy was in line with other sound meters in testing and it’s nice to be able to switch the response rate to either fast or slow depending on the environment you are measuring in. There are also two weighted measurement modes that can be switched easily with a simple button press: (A) for common environmental noise and (C) for higher intensity noise such as that from factories. A new mode that this unit includes is a SONE measurement mode that indicates how loud a sound is perceived to be, factoring in the both the sound frequency and level versus the decibel mode that is more objective as it only measures the physical sound pressure. For reference, one sone is equivalent to 1,000 Hz with a sound level of 40 decibels above a normal reference level. The unit has a nice color display that you can also set to show the min and max levels with a long button press. I’m not sure why they decided to put the max value on the left and the min value on the right as it seems unintuitive with the color gauge above it going from 0 on the left to 130 on the right. It would also be nice it the unit could stand by itself so you can leave it alone instead of having to prop it up for testing. However, these are very small point and do not diminish the strength and versatility of this meter.

I compared the decibel readings shown on this decibel meter to two other meters and the readings on this meter were similar -- right in the middle of the decibal readings of the other two meters and all were within 2% of each other. Thus this meter seems to be accurate and the display is bright, vivid, and very readable. An excellent unit at a good price.
