About this item

  • Made in Thailand

These models offer a combination of safety design and patented bar guide feature. The bar guide gives extra lateral support and rigidity to the hold-down bar at the front of the base. The units are designed to give more hand clearance between the bar and handle when the clamps are in the full open position. Models 213 through 227 are supplied with bonded neoprene-tipped spindle assemblies, flanged washers, and ergonomic handle grips.

What's not to like about these De Sta Co clamps? They always work great. Use them for your design or fixtures.

Just got this today, Nov. 4th, and is writing this review, because it's just incompetent to not have a single word of instructions on how to mount this thing, without searching YouTube. You just get the device, and some screws, and you're on your own, not knowing what to do with them, to put this together, or mount it. How easy would it had been to just at a single sheet of basic instructions? That's why it deserves a 2 star, because you have to figure it out this puzzle yourself.

This horizontal clamp is perfect for the item I was working on. I built a hand held sanding pad in three pieces and needed a clamp to hold it down. At first I thought that this small clamp would not work as GREAT as it does. It has more holding power and locks in as good or better than the bigger clamps. It exceeded my expectations. I bought one at first and than bought 3 more to make the same sanding block for my 4 boys.

I needed this clamp for a project I was constructing for my shop. It was all I thought it to be. It was critical that it clamped the part of the project it was purchased for and it has done that perfectly. The adjustment screw will be perfect if it ever loosens up.

I used several of these clamps to make a mortising jig. When I first unpacked them, I was surprised at how small they are. But they work quite well. The minor frustrations concern the button on a threaded bolt, the part that actually contacts the piece of wood I'm holding down. It is held in place by a couple of hex nuts and squared washers. Because I am frequently adjusting it to accommodate different thicknesses of wood, I don't take the trouble to tighten the nuts with two wrenches: I just make them finger-tight. The result is that the bolt is always too loose, moves around in the slot, or completely unthreads itself and rolls under my workbench. And the twin bracket the bolt sits in has a slot at the end, so that the whole button/bolt can be accidentally knocked right off of the bracket. So I've wasted more time than I like looking for bits and pieces that must be somewhere on the floor because they are not on the clamp any more.

These clamps are relatively small but are very strong for their size. I use them under my bench top router table to actually hold the router in place. This idea came from shop notes magazine issue #113 "Folding Router Table".
