I use this to monitor a back up battery bank for my computers and security system. It works well at multiple voltages and should be extra handy when I add solar power to the mix later this year

This is a simple meter that works well. However, if you want to measure all aspects of a typical 12v battery/solar/inverter system at once, then you need a couple of these meters. This is best described in the product photos, particularly 7 of 8, and 8 of 8. If you just want to know how many watt-hrs were drawn from, OR added to a battery, then a single device works fine. But be aware a single meter will not measure/record the energy flowing in AND out, it is wired for one measurement or the other but not both. Two meters (one measuring input, one measuring output) can be wired to a single shunt (see product photo 8 of 8)The current and voltage readings are very close to what I measure with my multi/clamp meter, so the watt-hrs should be close as well. The display is very clear and easy to read, with the backlight on or off. The off axis view is very good, but diminished a bit with the backlight on, but not by much.This is a good simple shunt/meter, but don't expect to see it show increasing watt-hrs as it charges, then see those numbers decrease when a load is attached - you need at least 2 meters for this.

I liked the unit when it was working however the display became unreadable after barely a month of use.

Just a three wire install. The shunt goes between my solar panels and the battery on the negative side. A positive wire goes to the unit. It displays current, voltage, wattage, and running wattage. I measured the voltage against my digital volt meter and they were within 0.1 volts. Great display and at the end of the day I know how much power my panels put out, then hit the reset and its ready for the next day.

Good display. Easy to read, and it has the vital info you need. My only complaint is that the shunt does not have good mounting holes to install it properly.
