I don’t love it! Whenever I turn it on the top flys off. Makes me just want to go to the store and buy ice cream. It makes an absolute mess. It’s a cute machine. It’s just more of a hassle

I have a fancy upscale ice cream maker but I only need to make one pint or so every so often. This little gadget does the job for me. I don't eat ice cream every day. I can make a pint or so and hold the extra mixture for the next day.Be aware, you really can't make two batches in a row. It has to refreeze and I give it a full 24 hrs. for refreezing. I've not been disappointed.The ice cream is soft so I usually put it in the freezer for about 30 mins to firm up. It doesn't take up much space in the freezer. I am very, very please. But if you need 1/2 a gallon, use a full sized ice cream maker.Finally, it cleans up easily. Follow the direction for care. Only the freezer portion goes in your freezer. The remaining parts can go on a shelf next to your coffee/tea mug.

It does make a tasty vanilla ice cream. There is only one recipe for ice cream, vanilla. I made up the recipe and it filled the frozen insert three times. The freezing insert must be frozen 24 hours, empty, before you can make another batch. The ice cream recipe is not sugar free, it uses 3/4 cup sugar. Hence only 4 stars.

I so wanted to love this small ice cream maker, but it just didn't work! I froze the cooler part for a week; froze the mixed ingredients for 3.5 hours (it was nearly frozen when I poured it into the device); poured in the ingredients; attached the motor immediately with the paddle running. Followed the instructions completely and hints offered here. The nearly frozen ingredients actually thinned and were less frozen each time I checked for completion as instructed! It did not result in ice cream of even the soft variety.I used one cup heavy cream, 1.5 tsp vanilla, 1/4 cup allulose sweetener. I had no milk on hand and do not know how that may have imacted the results. Ended up justfreezing the ingredients overnight and ate the more ice cream like result the next day without using the device. Was full of ice crystals but better than the supposed ice cream that came out of the machine!I also had questions for the seller before using the machine. I wrote 2 times but they NEVER RESPONDED. I finally called Dash customer support and they answered my question via e-mail a few days later.The device doesn't work and the seller is unresponsive. This is far and away the worst review I have ever written for any Amazon sold product. Also as others have mentioned the minimal number of recipes are written for a totally different sized machine... Dash - you need to get your act together on this one!

Not hard to use but finicky. I poured the mix in and then was distracted for a minute. I couldn't fit it together. Then I realized that the cream had frozen to the sides enough that I couldn't get the the paddle in,I had to wait until it melted then freeze again and no matter how I did it I could only get soft serve consistency. Not a bed product just a bit silly. I think that I would consider the larger size and make less.I think that the engineering of it is pretty good.The taste of the ice cream with artificial sweetener is great so it works well it is just not enough to share, and the waiting to refreeze spoils that. A little bit larger would make it more useful

I love this little ice cream maker!It does not work as well as a standard ice cream maker but very worth it for the compact design and ease of use.You really have to pre-freeze if you're using a traditional liquid mix or powder mix. If it does not freeze within the first 20 mins of churning, it's not cold enough.For my purposes, I LOVE it for making frozen yogurt - healthier and cheaper than most ice creams. It freezes yogurt out of the fridge within 5 mins; in fact I usually add a tiny bit of liquid so it doesn't immediately freeze to the walls. I also make pistachio ice cream using pudding mix and it's sooo good.The cup is super easy to wash and i stick it right back in the freezer so i can use it again the next day.It actually has some good uses outside of churning ice cream. I'll swirl some liquor or espresso in it to quickly chill for cocktails and iced lates.Well worth the low cost in my eyes, but don't expect it to work just as well as a bulky ice cream machine.
