Very disappointed with this product. Bought this for my 3 year old and as she was doing it we realized the instructions booklet was off by one entire row from the template. This was for both the hexagon and square template. You cannot follow the instructions to make a creation. My child was very frustrated. Don't recommend buying.

This XL melting bead kit is so much fun - it’s a really cool twist on something I did in my childhood a lot. These beads are so easy to use and melt easily too. As always, it needs adult supervision, but that’s no problem since I was loving playing with this too!

These melty beads are a great size for kids. The larger size is easy for even my 4 year old to manage. You place the beads on the peg boards in whatever design you want. Then place an iron sheet on top and melt the beads. The iron sheets are just parchment paper. You can reuse the provided sheets several times and then just replace them with parchment paper as needed. It comes with a booklet with several patterns or you can just freestyle, which is what my boys prefer to do. The instructions say that you just use medium heat on the iron for 10-15 seconds. That does not work. If you use medium heat it takes several minutes for these beads to melt enough. That probably works for the little beads but not these. I turn the heat up to med-high and it takes about a minute to get them melted enough. I've also found that they hold together better if you melt one side and then once it's cool take it off the peg board, flip it over onto a heat proof surface, sandwich it between iron sheets, and melt the other side as well. That makes it really sturdy.

These few beads are about triple the size of their smaller counterparts. This makes them a lot easier to use for people with mobility issues or coordination difficulties such as younger children or the elderly. The color variety is good and allows for a multitude of designs. The kit comes with some templates but it's easy enough to go outside the box and make what you want. The included peg plates do work though they can get a bit fiddly resulting in beads not staying where you want them. I do appreciate they included the ironing sheets and the set as well meaning the only thing you need to provide is the iron itself. The box is sturdy and stay sealed, we have not had any spillage issues thankfully. Overall very happy with this set, would recommend.

The beads are really bright, pretty colors. They come in a box. The instructions and peg boards are underneath all the beads. We had to reach underneath to get them out and had beads spill over. (Pictures) Once my kids began to excitingly build, using the pattern book, they became frustrated. The pattern book does not match the peg boards in scale size. Both of the peg boards are smaller than the image in the pattern book. Kids will need assistance building. (Picture) The beads are also all mixed, but the container does have slits for dividers (not included).

My grandchildren wanted to do some fuse beading but got frustrated with the small size and gave up. The XL size of the Darice melting beads is the answer! The large size is easily handled by small hands.The kit comes with brightly colored beads, along with white, black and grey. Two boards, ironing sheet and a book of patterns are included. Kids can follow the pattern or make up their own designs.Adults have to use an iron to fuse the beads together. The beads cool quickly and can be turned into magnets or simply displayed.The size of the bead is large enough the younger kids might want to turn them into beads!Thanks, Darice, for solving a problem for me. Love the extra large melty beads!

Our daughter loves making creations with fuse beads. These blew her mind, because they are huge. For a good time this is a really large colorful kit. We all took a stab at making some of the provided patterns.These have held up well and melt with a clothes iron just like the standard size, they won't melt with the other sizes unless you have a way to heat from below. (which is a tricky transition with a heat press but can be done).Overall for under $20 you'll get hours of good 'ol fashion fun.
