I've owned 6 of these leashes over the past 10 years. The most recent one I bought, the cord broke after a less than ten uses in modest surf. Fluke? Decline in quality? all have broken in the same spot, but usually after much longer usage or bigger surf. For a top end leash, I was very disappointed to have this one break so soon without reasonable cause.

This is the only brand I will buy! Never had any problems with them and they last! Well made! I always buy 8' leashes but i bought the 7' this time.

In Bali the golden standard in leashes is Stay Covered. All of the cool kids have a SC leash for their gun. That's fine, but now you can't get them because of logistical disruptions...So I was looking for another big wave cord, dreading having to settle for the Al Merrick leash which I trust only slightly less than my dog with an open package of meat on the floor. But then, praise to the surf deities, I saw this Dakine leash. Dakine has a good name and this leash looked strong as hell. If a Stay Covered is 10/10, this looked like 9/10 so I bought it.First impression, thanks to some clever packaging when you get the leash it's not all twisted and kinky. Genius! I love it already. Recently we had a day of 10 foot swell. I'm riding my 6'10'' heavy board. Lots of foam, lots of glass. Inevitably I got caught inside and this leash worked well. I took three big waves on the head, ditching the board each time and the Dakine leash held.So I haven't tested it for months or anything but it certainly appears solid. Would recommend it.
