The best brush that simple. I have alot of fancy expensive watercolor brushes. This quill style sable is dreamy. One thing though. Its so light, I wish the handle was 2 inches longer for weight and balance. But its still like painting on a cloud. So natural and intuitive. The brush dances across the paper. I did not think it was possible. But if you are an intermediate painter looking to improve. These brushes can pull you up with no effort. They will take you by the hand and show you how its done. Aint cheap but very sweet.

This brush would have been ideal but it arrived damaged. When the sleeve was put on, the little hairs were crimped against the brush and splayed in all directions. I tried saving it by dipping it for 3 second in boiling water and coating with gum arabic. It still loses its point, but I don't want to go through the hassle of returning it.Pros:-soft and pliable-perfect for watercolor-quality bristles and bonding- easy enough to fix damage-wets well and holds water and pigment-comfortable to hold and manipulateCons:- terrible packaging for such an expensive brush-loses its point easily

I was unsure of the size when purchasing, so I will post a picture. This thing is amazing at keeping its shape right now. I am very picky about my brushes...it is about the equivalent to a 6 or 7 winsor newton...or a pencil thickness. It holds well, bristles open in the water (showing its not synthetic) and snap to a point, holds more water or makes longer streaks than synthetic. That is worth the money for me. We will see how long the point lasts...my winsor newton point didn't last for more than two years...also if your wondering...I drilled and taped a dip pen nib and nib holder on the ends of several of my brushes, to make them travel brushes with less to carry. I'm a minimalist.Hope this helps.

I bought this in a size 7. It's my 4th or 5th Da Vinci Maestro and easily the nicest of the bunch. Perfect tip. Very nice point and it snaps right back. I believe the Series 30 is an old model number because I could not find it in the current Da Vinci catalog nor on their site so I was a little hesitant to buy it but I'm glad I did. I have a few W&N Series 7 brushes and this Da Vinci Series 30 is a nicer brush.Maybe it's the luck of the draw and I just happened to get a perfect one, either way II won't hesitate to buy another.

These are possibly the finest brushes I own!! I attached photos of their size. They hold a ton of water. They can cover a very large area and yet the point can still be used for great detail. These are made with the intention of not having to constantly be dipping your brush in water and paint. That interrupts the flow of the painting. Great paintings are made by using a continuous flow. These brushes allow that to happen.I also own the Russian Blue Squirrel brushes and they differ in their ability to snap. The blue squirell does not snap like the kolinsky. They are more of a mop type brush.Whereas, these brushes do not lose their shape. These brushes have a fat belly and a sharp point.Hence, you can make long continuous lines or long strokes without stopping to reload your brush.I attached some photos so that you can get a better perspective of the size of these brushes. In one photo I compare a size 12 kolinsky to a size 4 kolinsky Artissimo brush.I hope this helps!

Not sure what Da Vinci Series 30 is since I can't find any other information about it at all (there is Series 35...), but whatever this brush is, it is great. I really enjoy painting with it. It is slightly superior to my other Kolinsky brushes. The brush head is slightly bigger than my other size 6 from Jackson's Art UK (which is probably Escoda rebranded.) Has a fine tip and holds lots of water/paint. I'm not sure the handle is more "ergonomic" than others but the build quality feels sturdy all the same.It was shipped without any protection but I was able to get it back into form. When I contacted Amazon about this poor shipping, they handled the situation very well.

Can't believe the mfg. of this brush does not provide a plastic sleeve to protect the bristles. Brush is put into a box with bubble pouch on top,but the brush shifts against the box wall and the hairs are at a 90 degree angle when the box is opened. I was able to get it back into shape, but for spending $25 on a brush, there should be more care given.
