To test, I swapped out the splitter that came with my sound card for this one. Audio was immediately messed up. It sounded underwater like some other folks have posted here, and behind my head somehow. Super not good, but that makes sense as it is the cheapest one of these on Amazon apparently. I returned this and splurged for a $8 one and am hoping that does the trick.

There are some reviews which state the splitter is poor/cheap quality and the connector has to be spun or wiggled just right to get a clean signal. I was a bit disappointed to find out that seemed to be the case for me as well.At some point I accidentally popped the connector in fully though. That's the issue. The female connector (the one you plug your headset into) is very tight, so the 3.5mm jack doesn't seat in it all the way. You'll have to push pretty hard to get it seated flush, at which point it doesn't matter what direction you twist or spin the jack, it just works.Can't complain otherwise, it does a fine job and does exactly what I need it to do without any signal degradation. My friends say the mic is crystal clear, so I'm pleased. Just be aware you may have to push the 3.5mm jack in pretty hard until it finally pops in fully.

It works pretty well, you just gotta get the plug fully plugged in and wait a bit and eventually it'll sound pretty good

First time I plugged my headphones into the splitter, I didn't get it fully inserted. Bad audio problems resulted. Thought it was broken. Realized I just had so push hard to fully insert the headphone plug. Snap! Works perfectly. User error. Heh.
