Just make sure you install it correctly, the threads are somewhat fragile but the metal is thick and nice.

When I went looking for some device to stop the irritating clunky noise my hitch I came across this. Ordered it and it arrived on time and just in time for first use. Today it’s done 200 km and no annoying clunking. Long term life is still a question. But stainless steel should stand up well to Canadian weather.

Works as advertised 👍Stopped working after one use…one of the bolts are now locked in place and it’s unusable:( it seems i can’t get a replacement or refund as i had the issue more than a month after purchase. So less than a one month warranty…total scam !!!

Surprisingly heavy duty and functional. Got rid of a hitch rattle and makes it even harder to steal the hitch.

I installed this bracket to stop the vibration on my bike carrier which it did. After 3 weeks I tried to remove it and one of the nuts was frozen/stripped threads on the U-bolt. I eventually broke one side of the U-bolt trying to get it off and it isn't usable until I can find a replacement U-bolt and nuts.

Another reviewer warned that the bolt stripped out after one use. I didn't even get that far. I installed this product to test it out and it went on fine and seemed to firm up my trailer. I then tried to remove it and found one of the nuts very difficult to loosen. Afterward - as you can see from my photo - I discovered the bolt threads completely mangled. I can't think of any reason why this would happen. The nuts went on smooth as can be. I tightened it with only an 8" ratchet - not very much torque and definitely not too tight. I think they must be using some *very* soft "steel" here. Who knows... setting up a return now. If you plan to buy one of these I suggest searching for grade 8 steel and nothing else.

Editing to respond to those complaining about seized threads! DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN. This is stainless steel so, yes it's softer than normal steel. This item is made to be rust-proof so it's a trade-off you decide on. Only lighten until the split washers are fully compressed. Easy to install and very sturdy for a cargo tray (hitch hualer). This item comes with standard stainless nuts. While the split washers should prevent the nuts from backing off, I'm paranoid so I replaced them with stainless nuts with nylon inserts. It might not be necessary but this would be my only recommendation to the manufacturer. All-in-all, I'm very pleased with this product.

Going down the road towing the utility trailer, every little bump in the road or unlevel spot, you hear the clunk of the hitch going up and down! Putting this on makes for a nice quiet ride. Then the fact that it is stainless, it should not rust up like others, and it is really strong, much less likely to bend like cheaper brackets. While it does cost more, it should last me a lifetime. Will be much easier putting on or taking off since the threads won't be all rusted up! Saving a few dollars usually results in lots of frustration, aggravation, headaches! So I am glad I bought this one!

I have finally had a chance to install this Hitch Tightener on to my hitch bumper that I also purchased from Amazon, so far I am not hearing anymore noises and the hitch bumper is so stable I can literally push the bumper and the car shift without any shifting of the metal against each other.
