About this item

  • 【Features】: it is used to detect many common faults of the engine, such as piston ring wear, cylinder head crack, valve wear and cylinder head seal burst. It checks the amount of leakage in the engine cylinders and helps determine the source of the leakage.
  • 【General accessories】: It is very suitable for testing trucks and models with minimum clearance. Check the leakage of the four stroke engine.
  • 【How the leak tester works】: once the leak tester is connected to one of the cylinders, compressed air (45-100 psi) enters the cylinder through an integrated pressure regulator. Diagnose by observing the amount of leakage shown on the cylinder leakage gauge and listening to the leakage at all points of the vehicle system. It is not applicable to shallow cylinders.
  • 【Easy to operate】: remove the Schrader Valve and close the regulator before using workshop air. Install the hose on the cylinder, install the device on the air source, calibrate the leakage counter, and secure the device to the cylinder hose. Perform the diagnosis by observing the amount of leakage displayed on the cylinder leakage gauge and listening to the leakage at each point in the vehicle system.
  • 【Package】: 48cm recoil hose, 10mm and 12mm spark plug adapters, fixed connector M14 x 26mm, fixed connector M16 x 26mm, pressure+cylinder leakage gauge, air regulator, instructions and case.

CYLINDER LEAK DOWN + COMPRESSION TESTER

On the basis of a common set(1PC double gauge maniflod, 1PC rubber hose and 2PCS metal adapters included), this 3-in-1 cylinder gauge diagnostic tool kit adds 2PCS universal push-on connectors, 2PCS threaded adapters, 1PC M14 extension rod, and 1PC extension hose.

Convenient dual gauge design allows the leak down tester gauge assembly to directly show you the pressure value and leak rate of the tested cylinders. Ranging from 0-100 psi / 0-7 bar and 0-100%(Accuracy: ±0.5%) ,Compression leak tester hooks up to air compressor(provide yourself) can help to detect common engine faults such as worn piston rings, worn valves, cracks in cylinder walls and blown head gaskets.

Leak down tester gauge also equipped with 18" rubber hose, AR2000 pressure regulating valve, American type air plug and aluminum body. Valve knob made of alloy and plastic, used for pressure adjustment of the input air from the air compressor. Pull out for use, and push back to lock. This compression tester & cylinder leakage gauge test tool kit fits for any gasoline engines with spark plugs(within 20mm).

Constructed with aluminum and rubber, straight / angled type universal push-on connectors don't need to be threaded into spark plug wells and applicable to almost all petrol engines, and M14 aluminum extension rod can be installed on long / short hose(41-3/4"; 11-1/2") end to increase distance and facilitate operation. Adapter sizes: M14*1.25, M18*1.5, M10*1, M12*1.25.

Assist To Detect Following Enging Faults

Worn piston rings, worn valves, cracks in cylinder walls and blown head gaskets.

Location Of Detect Foints

  • Oil dipstick tube — for leakage from damaged or worn rings and/or cylinder wall.
  • Radiator filler — for cylinder wall cracks or head gasket leakage.
  • Adiacent cylinder — for head gasket leakage.
  • Carburettor air inlet — for inlet valve leakage.
  • Fuel injection throttle body — for inlet valve leakage.
  • Tail pipe — for exhaust valve leakage.

NOTE

  1. Please wear gloves and goggles when use.
  2. This cylinder leakage test kit should be used by professional or under the guidance of a professional.
  3. Always refer to equipment manufacturer's operation instruction, compare to the manufacturer's recommended readings.
  4. Select neutral (or "park" if automatic transmission) and keep hands clear of the engine as engine rotation may occur when using this tool. The ignition MUST BE turned off.
  5. This cylinder leak tester is not suitable for shallow cylinder. Please check your cylinder first before bidding.
  6. Turn regulator knob fully anticlockwise before connecting to compressed air.
  7. Require an air pressure of 45 to 100psi. Ensure the air supply is clean and does not exceed the pressure quoted.
  8. Unscrew the adapter after the cylinder is cooled to prevent the hose from softening and not driving the adapter to rotate together.

I had to make my own adapter to fit the cylinder head that I was working on. The tester worked just fine. The leak percentage gauge might not be that accurate, as it went below 0% at 100 psi when testing the tool itself. I calibrated it by making an air-tight cap for the adapter, and finding what psi yielded 0% leakage, which ended up being around 96 psi, so not far off. When using the tester, I only take it up to 96 psi and I know that the leak percentage reading should be fairly accurate.

Tried to calibrate tool before using as described in instructions but tool wouldn't calibrate at all like it says. Therefore tool was junk and couldn't be used to do a leakdown test.

I got the product as one day delivery and it seemed good (at least at first look). Without wasting your time, let's see the pros and cons:Cons:Everything is made out of cheap material, the seals started leaking as soon as I connected a compressor to it. It wasn't working. I was getting 5% leak in a cylinder which had 0 compression at all. Wasted money, wasted time and wasted efforts. A person should be paid even to buy this one.Pros:I didn't see any.

Went to use for the first time and now the hose is stuck inside cylinder head. Unable to remove given the depth and given the end connector is round (has no hex head)... This is the main hose with the ARO quick-connect fitting one one side and a crimped 14 mm threaded end on the other, which turned out to be defective.

Hey, for this price it's pretty good! Not top quality but also a fraction of the cost of top quality.Used it on a snowblower that I suspected had a leak but it didn't.So as far as that goes it works very well.Case plastic is a bit on the cheap side but at least it has a case.I'd say it's well worth the cost.If I run into problems with it down the road I'll update this comment but so far so good!

Building a Mk1 VW with a 1.8t 20V swap and I needed to check the health of the engine, I was a little nervous about the cost of this kit but it worked great. It helped located a few minor issues. Its one of those rarely used tools that is nice to have and at this price point I cant complain!

Zeros at around 28 psi and it works great for the price you can't beat it and didn't have to pay a shop to do this who knows if the guy doing it knows what he's doingI was able to rule out internal issues with this tool, all the cylinders were within a few % of each other and that's what's important consistency that combined with perfect compression numbers tell me it's fine internally even at 200k
