This kit was super easy to install in my 2018 CX-5. The only thing I did differently than the directions was to use a tap/vampire clamp for the power wire to attach it to the 12V aux port in the trunk instead of running the line all the way to the battery. This kit comes with a 10A fuse and the aux port had a dedicated 15A fuse so it's well protected and leaves 5A for whatever you want to plug into that port.

Good product. Solid wires and connectors. Everything is included. Excellent videos available on Youtube and Curt website. I needed almost 2 hours to lead the power conductor underneath to the battery without a lift (I'm not handy). Everything else took less than an hour.

So far, so good. The kit is great, though installing it as a first time installer without a lift and without someone who knows how to install them was.. "fun".. 🤣The instructions are a bit scant, so I definitely suggest checking out some online videos to fill in the blanks on the instructions. There was a good one by U-Haul, I think, I watched that helped a lot. I definitely recommend some good dual-sided industrial tape to affix the controller to the frame back behind the upholstery panel by the driver's rear tail light so it's not plopping aroundThere's no real good place to put the trailer connector so I have it inside where I can tuck it out the back hatch as needed.I definitely recommend this kit as it has ALL the wiring parts you need; no additional pieces are needed unless you squish the connectors or something. The trailer connector even comes with a cover.

Very satisfied. Easy to install even without hoisting vehicle. Just make sure the pins in the male connectors are straight. I had one that was not and got crushed when I attempted to plug it. Thankfully I had the tools to fix it. Other than that. Great product.

Bought this because couldn’t find any cx-50 harness without splicing into oem wires. Install was pretty easy basically plug-n-play. Decided to buy a 12v plug instead of running wire from battery since there was a 12v outlet in trunk. Works great.

This was an easy install especially after watching a couple of videos to be sure I knew how to remove the screws and plastic push pins to get to the connectors in the trunk. I think it took me 3 to 4 hours because I was retentive on securing and routing my wire from the battery to the trunk. I had to jack up the CX5 to be able to fully get to all the screws to completely drop the splash guard and heat deflectors to route and secure the power wire. If you are fine with just tossing it in the splash guard like the videos describe will take a lot less time. I didn't see anything under the splash guard that would get hot or rub the wire causing a short later. The kit would be better to have a few extra yellow wire splices. Only two in the kit and the first one I crimped didn't secure the wire on one end. Have a few extra on hand in case you need a mulligan. The connector on the CX5 positive battery post had a terminal to connect the hot wire. The lug that came with the kit was way larger than the nut I found to secure it. So, I also needed a small hole lug for that termination that didn't come in the kit. Get a nut that fits also before you start, I just got lucky and had one with the correct threads but again the nut was small so wouldn't hold the lug supplied.

We've been using our hitch for over a year now with bike and motorcycle racks, but finally got around installing this wiring kit. I love that you don't have to splice any of the factory wiring. Easy plug and play. Instead of running the Positive power wire back to the battery, I purchased a cheap 12v extension plug with fuse and ran the wire to the passenger side with the tail light wiring. The few times that I plan to tow and need trailer lighting, I will simply plug in the 12v plug to the rear accessory outlet. The low power draw on this has no issue running through the accessory plug. I hid the flat 4 plug in the driver side storage cubby so we just pull it out and run it out the lift gate when we need it.12v extension lead I used was https://amzn.to/40bL5X3

I had my Mazda dealer handle installation of this and a Curt 2" receiver on a new 2021 CX-5 Signature I just purchased.I'm familiar with Curt products as I've owned them before and every one was well made. The tech who installed this said it was a great choice and he said the installation went very easy and logically as well. The Tech and I discussed any shortcuts to the install and he emphasized not to take a shortcut and splice to the hot wire to the rear 12V cigarette receptacle as does Curt NOT want you to do this per the installation instructions. The hot wire should go to the battery location under the hood.My Utility Trailer uses all regular bulbs rather than low power LEDs and the Tech said it is safer and more reliable to hot wire to the battery due to the higher demand on that circuit branch. Given I might use that rear cirgarette lighter location for other accessories, that all makes sense. Maybe I'll convert my trailer to all LEDs at some point. Both the Service Advisor and the Tech warned me not to take any shortcuts and they wanted to adhere to Curt's Installation instructions for this harness, including the black hot wire that has to run to the front of the vehicle. It was, -By the Book, period!-There is plenty length for the harness connection and everything is stored in the rear wheel-well where the spare tire is located. No complaints and when a Mazda tech says a product is great and the install of it was the same, that's good enough for me!5 Stars all around and no complaints at all.

This adapter is well made and overall pretty easy to install. Of course running the power wire from the battery is a pain, but it can be done without a lift. I was able to squeeze under the car and zip tie the power wire to the existing support and then put the plate that protects that area back on. I used the Uhaul video and it walks you through the entire install in great detail. They use an upgraded battery cable but it's pretty self explanatory how to use the one that comes in this kit.I was able to install this in about an hour. I leave it inside the car under the trunk mat and just run it out and hook it up and then close the trunk over the wires when in use. You can also mount it outside the car, but then you'll need to worry about keeping the connection clean. As little as we use it I'd rather keep it out of the elements until needed. The trunk does not damage the wires when closed.
