This little smoker box puts out a TON of smoke, but only for a short period. I purchased this a week before I purchased an actual smoker, I know, impulse buy but I was able to use it on a few chicken thighs. It actually turned out really good but not as good as an actual smoker. The most difficult part was maintaining the charcoal temperature and I only had to replace the wood chips and coal once in the 2 hours of smoking. Placed directly on top of the heated charcoal.Side note: I did not soak my chips. If you ask around they say it's best not to.

Works well but does not have have holes on sides. Other styles tend to emit more smoke because of different design. Good for occasional home use.

Cuisinart CSB-156 Wood Chip Smoker Box - well made, heavy duty with a good fitting removable lid. It had a little too much airflow due to the amount of holes on top, but depending upon use type this might not be an issue. I am using it with a gas grill and wanted it to smoke even when using high heat, I folded a piece of aluminum foil, punched 4 holes in it and put this on top of the wood chips then put the lid back on. Works great, now I have smoldering smoke instead of just flames and no smoke. I use it with Jack Daniel’s wood chips since I love the smell of them even before they smoke and that much more after.

Cheap and cheerful, which is what I wanted. It does the trick (I am using it in a rebuilt electric smoker so it rests right on the heating element) which means it smokes rather than bursts into flame. So the airholes design is good. Because it is thin steel the lid gets a bit stiff to open and close after a few uses but it's not really that much of a problem. Got to be the cheapest stainless smoker box on the market so on that basis I have no complaints

I'm not convinced the smoke quality is better after it passes through the "cuisinart" logo. This box is made of thin metal, but sturdy. It holds wood chips , and after a good 10 minutes produces some great smoke on a charcoal BBQ. I actually own a dedicated smoker, but use this on charcoal as a quick smoke for simple foods, like burgers. Its a great show off piece. I'm glad I bought it. Not sure if it would work wall on a propane BBQ...but we all know a propane BBQ is really just a propane cooker, as it never makes quality BBQ food.

With all of my friends doing smoked meats, I felt inadequate and sad. I don't have the room (nor do I have the funds) to purchase a pellet smoker. A friend suggested this wonderful device to me and I have to say that it's pretty amazing! It's durable and simple, and when filled with soaked wood chips, imparts a wonderful smoky flavour to all of my barbecued food! It does take up a little real-estate on the grill - but it's definitely worth it (especially for the price)!

Works amazingly well. I have used it a couple times with apple and hickory chips on my electric weber Q (condo life, no gas/open flame hoa rules). Just placed the chips in the box, placed it on the grill grate, turned my grill on high and 15-20 min later smoke is being produced. Box seems sturdy and works great on the electric. Added wood smoke flavor to my electric grilled food. Awesome

Worked perfectly. Replaced another smoker box that only smoked a little bit. Noticed a huge difference first time used. Will be buying a second one.

Unless you're going to shell out for a dedicated smoker, this is as good as it gets. The heavy gauge metal will stand up to some abuse and cleaned up nicely. I got a good amount of smoke on my average size gas grill. Just make sure you pull it off the direct heat once it gets going. I burned through the chips to quickly until I realized I was letting it get too hot.

Smoking meats is really an art form. I have friends that have turned it into a lifelong hobby with considerable investment. I've had the pleasure of enjoying the results of their labor but for me it's just too much work. I like this little smoker box because of the size and simplicity of using it. We have a small family and I do not possess the skills, time or patience to invest into a large smoker. This allows me to enjoy small portions of smoked meats with just my grill and some wood chips making the process quick and affordable. It's the best of both worlds if your situation is similar.Keeping it simple, just load the box with your desired wood chips and place it on the grill when you light it up. By the time the grill is preheated you'll be seeing smoke coming from the box and your ready to grill up some lightly smoked chicken, pork or fish along with some veggies. Our first try was with chicken quarters and corn on the cob. It was delicious to say the least but again the smoky flavor was light and for us that was perfect. You'll have to experiment with different chips and or add a 2nd box to your grill to get the desired level of smoky flavor that pleases you. If you set your expectations properly considering that your using a grill and a little box of chips you should be pleased with the results. The one mistake to avoid is wetting the chips. You don't want steam you want smoke.

So far so good. Tested in boiling water first and was right on the money temperature wise. Wireless portion works ok. Is obviously a little slower at updating the temperature. But overall really good.

I bought this Cuisinart CSB-156 Wood Chip Smoker Box, along with a bag of Char-Broil Wood Chips, to use with my new Stok Gridiron Portable Gas Grill. The small size of the Smoker Box was a must-have feature, since my grill is not a large one. I had previously grilled steaks and chicken, which both turned out delicious, but I read that a smoker box really improved grilled foods. So, I came home from work and threw a handful of wood chips into water to soak for 30 minutes while I put some rice on to cook and seasoned some boneless, skinless chicken breasts. Meanwhile, I fired up the grill and preheated it for 15 minutes. Then, I put the Smoker Box (with the drained the Wood Chips in it) onto the grill grate and closed the grill lid, allowing it to heat up for a few minutes (five or ten--I didn't really time it). When smoke started to come out of the Smoker Box holes, I added the chicken breasts, closed the lid, and grilled for a few minutes per side. Served the chicken with rice and a crisp salad. The family said it was the best chicken I had ever grilled. The neighbors peeked over the fence to see what smelled so good. When I was done, the box cleaned up easily to almost new. Using the Smoker Box really added a whole lot to the taste for such a minimal amount of effort. I really recommend it.

While it is small in size, it does a big job. The best part is this smoker can be used on top of the grille as it takes up so little space. It is highly effective and it cleans up to look like new for your next use.I buy the Weber chips and cut them down in size. I soak the chips in beer, which add a terrific taste to meats, fish and fowl. I usually let the chips soak overnight and place the smoker into the grille and operate the grille on high until the smoke starts to pour out of the BBQ. It is ready to add your food at this time.Terrific tasting food that you can find nowhere else.
