Non-vacuum 3M Random Orbital Sanders are air powered sanders designed to deliver professional performance and a swirl-free finish in high-production industrial environments where dust extraction is not required. This palm sander is loaded with features to reduce vibration and noise and increase ergonomics and operator comfort. These features include a comfortable rubber grip and a recessed lever platform that eliminates pinching and pressure points on the operator’s palm. An innovative internal muffler helps reduce noise and won’t break off during use. Recommended is an approved 3/8 inch (10 mm) airline at the minimum length required for the application, with a maximum length of 25 feet (8 m). grip vibrates a little bit sometimes but it only gets annoying after a few hours. My shop air is 120-160 psi so i run the regulator on the orbital at 25% max. I dont think that has any negative impact on performance, just lifetime. I just bought some oil and I figure if I oil it every morning and cleanup should last a while. I will update this review if it dies on me.as far as the actual performance of the orbital- it sands down metal very fast for a random orbital. the finish is almost identical to a 3m 3/16 orbit random orbital sander, but arrives at the finish much faster at least 3x as fast. if using the orbital on its edge a lot use the 3/16 one it will vibrate less.

This thing is a beast. Big time saver for agressive sanding up to 120 grit vs electric 5" RO sander. You need a BIG compressor to run it. I have a 60 gallon with 5hp motor and big 2 stage pump. I thought the stick on paper would be a negative that i couldnt reuse as you swap through grits, i just warm the pad a bit and gently pull and the paper comes off clean and I store it in a closed cupboard to keep dust off. Can re stick paper like 6 times.

i have owned many palm sanders in my career most by another top brand. I absolutely love this one, its quiet ,comfortable and most importantly is sands great. the 5/16 cut makes a huge difference in material removal. I highly recommend this tool.

You need to review with your third party seller on how to properly package and ship the items that they are selling. The sander arrived in the manufacturer's box with only a piece of scotch tape to hold it closed which of course it didn't. The box looked like it had been opened during shipping but miraculously the sander was still intact and undamaged. Oh yeah it works great. Installed an air fitting and a PSA disc and put it to work. Very lightweight and comfortable to use with excellent sanding action. Time will tell how well it holds up.

It's quiet, and the 5/16 orbit hogs out material much faster than other 3/16 orbit sanders. I use 40 grit or 60 grit pads built for stainless and hard metals, to really take down material fast!!! Followed by 80 grit with a 3/16 orbit sander. This hides most of the deep scratches and is great for steel. I take it to 220 grit for aluminum.

I by this for my daugther, she have small hand and need a powerfull and light weight sander.....this sander is ferfect for her.....small grip,light weight and balance so no vibration!!!!! this is a must if you work with it all day......

I got this sander for finishing wood table tops and such things. It's a monster at work! Sandpaper last a lot longer than with other sanders, if fact I was surprised at how long a piece of sandpaper lasted.I did have to get a new air compressor, as my little Stanley Pancake just couldn't even start to keep up. So make sure you have a strong enough air compressor.

Very durable, great quality!! Used these in school, they hold up like a champ. Does top of the line work, at a fraction of the cost. Use mine at least 6 hours a day, and no problems. Love this DA!!!
