This remote start is wonderful. Love the key fobs. Took my installer about an hour and a half to install (with some trouble shooting).Beware:For you to install this item, you will need to purchase 1) BladeAL (bypass module) and 2) a t-harness separately. cm900 modules use DIFFERENT harnesses (FTI) than DC3 modules (idata). Make sure you select the correct one for your make and model of your car and get the fti one. Also, MAKE SURE YOU CHECK seller's rating/reviews before ordering. Support good sellers, not scammers who try to send you open box items with missing components. (Had to return and order from another seller).

to start, there is very little documentation in the box. firstec does not like non-dealer installers, and will give little to no help. so if you are going to buy this, make sure you know what you are doing , and have found the documentation (it's available, if you are fluent in google). or have an installer do it for you, but you should probably just buy it from them in that case.it worked very well, and is pretty simple to install. the q9 remote is very nice, and the range is more than enough for my needs. installed in an old toyota truck, so no need for any extra modules to get the door locks and remote start to work.

Purchased a Compustar 2WQ900AS in Dec 2024. The seller sent a Compustar CS8920AS. On the box there was a piece of paper taped stating “Please note that the CS2WQ900-AS model has been discontinued. The CS8920-AS is the new replacement model, which is identical to its predecessor, except for the 1-way companion remote (G17), upgraded from the G15 while maintaining the same 3000 ft range. The controller, antenna, and Q9 remote remain unchanged.” I was expecting the Compustar 2WQ900AS with the 4 button 1 way remote. There are videos on the internet showing how to access system programming with that remote. Unfortunately I could not find the correct key combination to access system programming with the 2WQ9R-FM remote or 1WG17R-FM remote.Basic additional items I needed to complete my installation: -- OP-500 System programmer -- IDatalink ADS-ALCA interface module --iDatalink ADS-USB weblink updater flash loader (anyone can create an account on iData site to flash bypass module.) --I highly recommend purchasing a T harness if one is available.I have been a custom independent 12volt installer for many years dating back to the days CODE car alarm. Over the past 24 years I have mainly installing DEI (Directed Electronics Inc) Vipre, Python systems. This is my first experience with Firstech products.Installation was as expected nothing different than any other alarm auto start system with all the usual connections. System programming was annoying as I could not access it with the remotes and I could not find any information on the internet on how to do it with the newer remotes. Noor could I access system programming with the valet button. NOTE: For those whom don’t know, you have to program your alarm auto start brain box (CM900AS) to your specific vehicle needs. Once I received the OP500 programmer, system programming was super nice and with the op-500 you can program all the optional stuff as well. Of course the Idatalink required flashing, installation and programming. (I tested without flashing and it did not work) The idatalink web site had specific installation and programming procedures for my vehicle. I was able to create an account and flash the ADS-ALCA for my specific vehicle. Reconnected ADS-ALCA module into the car. I than followed the programming instructions provided on the idatalink web site manual. Once the ADS-ALCA was programmed everything was up and working. After some testing, I did need to reconnect the op-500 programmer to the CM900AS (Brain Box supplied in the Compustar CS8920AS kit) to make some slight adjustments such as Door lock pulse time.Over all I really liked the FIrstech Compustar CS8920AS with its many features and modern options and the remote range is excellent. The system and components I purchased were new, packaged well and functioned 100% correctly. However knowing Firstech / Compustar only supports verified installers and only verified installers can create an account at Firstech’s site to access product manuals and flashing. That is a pretty big issue. Essentially as a DIYER buying this kit you will be 100% on your own.
