Exactly as described on the website. It's fine for the price and what it is. Many are skinny and have a bunch of useless valves and mechanisms purportedly to prevent water entry and purge if it does. Short, large-bore snorkels that clear with a short toot of air are hard to find and expensive. I may shorten this one, but it's not for serious water.

I ordered this snorkel looking for a simple snorkel provided by a known name.I don’t particularly need a “dry” snorkel, and this isn’t one - I know how to blow water out of it, clear it, when need be; and also know when I’m susceptible to inhaling air, vs water… that being said, it’s an “old school” snorkel and worked fine in this regard. It secures to your mask via this double ring or figure “8” type attachment, not a “c” shaped clip, once on it’s on, and not likely to become unattached, unless your mask becomes dislodged.A points of honest critique - two things: firstly, it’s a little short in my opinion, the straight air tube, this in my opinion after initial use while snorkeling seemed so, but it worked… fine. Also, the rubber “u” tube, section between the mouth and attachment is a bit thin… and while it didn’t collapse at all on me, I’m not sure how the material would hold up after extended use over time, or, adjustment upward of the plastic tube as it sits on the mask in use. Mouth piece reasonably comfortable during use.Overall - this snorkel is a decent, simple snorkel to use and was worth its price point: affordable. My use: basic snorkel with repeated dives below and recreational scuba.Hope this review helped.

For some reason a lot of modern snorkels -- especially those sold with kids' diving masks -- come with weird curved bends that make the snorkel lie along the curve of the head. This brings them closer to the water, causing them to fill up unexpectedly, and also makes them harder to clear completely. They also tend to be hard plastic, which can make them uncomfortable.None of this is a problem with this snorkel. The traditional design holds the open end higher above the head, and the minimal bends makes clearing it a breeze. The silicone mouthpiece and semi-flexible tube are very comfortable, and don't dig into the head like some of the hard-plastic snorkels do. And the price is very reasonable.I recommend this snorkel for both new and experienced divers.

When trying to rent snorkeling equipment, only mask and fins are being rented in Florida keys.Get your own snorkel so they don't sell you a crappy $9 one that is worth $1.I compared this snorkel with the Oceanic Blast Snorkel due to the lower priceI really wanted the Oceanic Blast Snorkel to come out on top but it did not. Both may be useful for kids. However, my 12 year old son used this snorkel instead. The tube is made of rigid plastic. This can make it less comfortable and more difficult to pack. The tube goes straight up more than bending around ones head. This may allow it to be longer to avoid. The diameter of the tube is about the same size. It is not great and did not pass my thumb test. However the bite on the mouthpiece on the Cressi is larger and may better accommodate an adult. The Cressi comes with the old style of rubber mount. This is an advantage in my opinion if you have your own mask - The snorkel stays in the fixed position you set.It will make it more difficult to change from mask to mask however. Thus, if renting the mask, you should probably look to a different snorkel or at least a different keeper/mount.A more flexible snorkel tube would also be an advantage in packing bags somewhat.Photo 1 (leftmost) comment: From L to R are this Cressi, Oceanic Blast, 20 year old broken Oceanic (my favorite), and purchased FL $9 snorkel. This shows the different bite geometries well and their lengths.Photo 2 : magnified view of Cressi and Oceanic Blast.Photo 3: photo comparing tube diameters. My broken 20 year Oceanic was the largest.Photo 4: Thumb test that my 20 year old Oceanic would pass.None of the other three snorkels will accept my knuckle - they are all smaller. The FL snorkel (the right most) was the most uncomfortable because it used a clear hard plastic mouth piece and not a silicon mouth piece. This Cressi or the Oceanic Blast is a much better choice in my opinion. I don't expect the FL snorkel to last very long at all.

My wife and I like to freedive as well as snorkel and we've read in a few places that snorkel flexibility is a nice feature. Neither of us could really figure out why, but at under $15 this seemed to be a good way to test it. It's hard to describe. Perhaps it creates less drag as the dive happens or perhaps it's because this model doesn't have extra purge valves and splash guards that create turbulence. Either way, the Cressi Gringo was a nice change from what we had been using. As the other reviews state, the lack of those extra features also means that there's less to break or fail. This snorkel just works. If I had to comment on the negatives it would be that it could have been 1 inch longer and the loop that attaches it to a mask could have been easier to set. It wasn't so much a problem for my wife because she just took it off and replaced it with one made of neoprene that she got for her long hair, but it was quite a pain for me to get back on one I had threaded the band to my mask through.Despite those two things, you just can't go wrong for something like this that works and is available at a great price.
