Tracking gets lost a lot. It forgets where it is so you have to go very slowly, painfully slow. When it works, it is very accurate when transferring to cad. The little target stickers a must

I needed to scan an object and this was the cheapest scanner with good reviews. As soon as it arrived, I opened it up, installed the software and used it. Worked as I anticipated it would, no issues.

This is my first 3D scanner so take my review with that in mindI'm breaking my review into two parts. The physical scanner itself, and the software used on your computer to capture and process scans. The Physical Scanner I think the scanner itself is a very capable piece of hardware. The drill I scanned was only off by 0.08mm on the diameter of the drill chuck. Way more accurate than you will need for 99% of stuff. The build quality is nice, although I wish it had some sort of soft protection case so you can set it down without worrying about scratching it. Would be nice if the USB cable supplied with it was a foot or two longer, but it works well enough. The Software I think this is where its lacking, specifically the software's ability to track and regain tracking of your object. Every object you scan will have its unique challenges and this is not a tool you can just wave arround your part and get a perfect model. It does take some skill, practice, and patience. At times the software seems to have a hard time regaining tracking, and will occasionally when it regains tracking it will be incorrect and start generating a point cloud in some random, incorrect way.How to have success1. USE A ELETRIC TURNTABLE IF YOU CANPutting my part on an electric turntable helped so much and really made things much easier and faster. Get one with adjustable speed as some objects you will need to scan slower than others2. Use "Scanning Spray"I highly recommend making your own because it works just as well and is dirt cheap. 1 part talcum powder, 4 parts 99% Isopropyl alcohol. Mix it in a spray bottle, spray your part, then once its dry the software will have a much much easier time tracking and scanning your object.3. Make sure you can reach all areas of your part before starting the scan. Sometimes moving your part mid scan can cause tracking and scanning issues.4. Go slowThis is not something you can quickly wave around and expect it to work. It wont. Taking your time is important.5. Place your part on an elevated platformI have been using a tripod with a flat surface on the top to place my parts on and it has been really helpful. This allows me to easily access all sides of the part, and scan from underneath as well if the part hangs over the edges.Overall I am super happy with it. Their is a learning curve but once you get it down it can produce good scans.

Its easy to use, just plug and scan!Keep in mind to plug your laptop to a power source so its CPU work at full capacity. The cable provided is long enough to scan most objects without much limitations. The detail is spot on, it does scan to scale 1:1 so no need to resize it afterwards specially for precise 3d prints, happy with the results.

I had pretty modest needs for scanning so I got this little ferret thinking I'd have the perfect combination of price and utility for my needs. After plugging it into my 2023 ASUS ROG Strix Laptop (so very modern/updated) the scanner wouldn't reliably connect or stay connected. Ultimately, the scanner damaged the USB controller of my laptop. I contacted Creality and was assured that their products were designed to operate 100% within USB specifications and couldn't possibly have failed... and that the fault must clearly lie with the relatively new gaming laptop that worked flawlessly for a year prior to hooking it up to their device. Cuz that makes SO much sense. They weren't even remotely interested in helping me despite the problem clearly being with their scanner. I will never do business with Creality again.

The best way to get a great scan is to have markers and lots of them. You cant just use any marker sticker, it has to be the black circles with white centers. I needed them for a project, ran out, and it took a while for the new order to be delivered. I prefer the basic model that is connect to a computer, because I am only limited by the amount of memory and capabilities of the attached machine. The portable options rely on the compute of the handheld device. Make sure you have a computer/laptop with a gaming graphics card and lots of memory. All of the Ferret scanners are the same, the only difference is the portability.

The quality of this product is terrible, don't have insteuctions or manual, no drivers, you have to find and download the software, the software have a poor usb communication, all the advertising is inaccurate, ultimately is a really bad scanner!
