Bought these for our old farmhouse windows to use instead of traditional candles. These jars are so cute, but only 1 time use. They have never lit again after the first night. There is no battery, they function solely on solar. The jar is well built glass with metal lid, but the lighting is poor quality. They are lightweight and easily hung with command style hooks that hold 2lbs in the window. Very disappointed overall.

The lids have rusted a little over time, but nothing too drastic and it adds to a rustic appearance. The lids have succeeded in keeping out moisture and the solar cells and LEDs are still working after a year. No complaints.I'm updating my review and adding a star because I was pleasantly surprised to see these are repairable. In the heat of a second summer, many of the units stopped illuminating and I initially feared they would have to be discarded. However, the internal battery is a simple NiMH AAA type and with a screwdriver, it's a matter of removing two screws to open up the internal lid component and replace the battery. That's extremely welcome - I really expected something glued and soldered, so this deserves an extra star for avoiding landfill. Well done.

I really like these lights. I used them outdoors and they really look great as accents across the front of my home. During the summer when there is a lot of sunlight and the days are longer where I live, they stay brightly lit nearly all night long. Unfortunately, there are a few problems that developed over the season. The lids rust. Anything made for outdoor use shouldn't rust, at least this quick. I had two lights completely stop working which could have been faulty solar chargers. They went into the trash. Several of them leaked. By the end of the season there was water in most of them. At the price point (I paid about $5 each), I think they were worth the money for a one-season run. I won't be able to re-use several of them and the rusty lids are an issue. If you want something that you can use more than one year, I'm sure there may be better choices. With a couple of improvements, these could really be much better.
