I have purchased many solar lights in the past. this is my first Goal Zero purchase. I charged the light at home before leaving for a camping trip and the Goal Zero lights up for a second and then turns off. I have written Amazon to send me another. it is too late to return because past the 30-day return window however, it was in a box until recently used. I believe that I may have gotten a lemon and would like to get another but no one has contacted me .

Compact design stores easily. Three levels of light are available. Can charge either by solar or USB cable. Well designed and feels sturdy enough to last a long w.

This is a great portable light we used on a trek in Nepal. Unreliable power at tea houses, so this was a great source of light in private rooms. Easy to use and has several brightness settings. Folds up (compresses) to very compact, flat size. Lightweight for backpacking or trekking. We charged it up with a portable battery pack, so never tested the solar panel on board, but it seems to draw little power relative to the battery size. Recommended.

We have used these types of Goal, zero crush lights for our rural property, on the motorboat, camping, and at our nonprofit youth adventure camp.We bought our first set four years ago, and they still work great. However, we also love them on our rural property, so we bought more. During catfish season, we use them for about three hours a night two or three days a week and we charge them about once a week to an week and a half. So, the battery life is excellent. We have a small goal zero solar generator and they charge well with this charger. They charge well by sunlight. They charge well by USB.This would be an excellent gift for children to have as their very own lantern when camping or for any outdoorsy person. It also makes great lanterns around your barbecue pit, which is what we do with ours when we’re not camping. We also have a set that we use when the power goes out on our rural property. We live in cabin in the forest. Here is a tip. When the lights come, they will be in demo mode which means when you turn them on, they’ll stay on for a few seconds and automatically shut off. It’s hard to figure out how to Yale the light off demo mode once you throw away the packaging. To take the lights out of Demo mode, turn the light on then press and hold the on off button for 10 seconds allowing the light to cycle through all of the various lighting options from low light to high light to candlelight then it will shut itself off, and this is your indication that it is out of demo mode. The next time you turn the light on it will stay on until you turn it off .

Love this light. Doesn’t take up any room, different lighting levels and the different colours with the ability to have the light look like a candle flickering is so cool.

[update]like this light so much i picked up 2 chroma lights as well. you can't go wrong with either model. used out camping and when power was out at home. great lights.[original review]picked up the original model. 3 light levels plus "candle flicker" mode. folds flat to just under an inch in height. micro-usb or solar chargeable. detachable loop, and 2 side hoops you can hang from. light weight. small. makes a great light in an emergency or for camping. wish the run time was longer, but no packable light is infinite. and it's "weather proof" so i don't have to worry if it gets rained on outside my tent.all-in-all, i'm very happy with my purchase. i might pick up a couple more, or the chroma model for some colors. can certainly recommend this light.

Recently went on a 5 day backcountry canoe trip and we purchased a Goal Zero Lighthouse Micro before leaving. It’s extremely compact, light and bright. We did however find ourselves “managing” how much we used it. It did last the entire trip, some card games during rain storms and midnight trips to the thunder box. This lantern eliminates the worry of running out of battery. It’s a perfect packable size and weighs relatively nothing. The handle is perfect for adding a carabiner and hanging from a tree, the loft in your tent, or even just having it sit flat at your site. There are two loops on either side of the light that allows you to hang it vertically on a tree off a small branch or nail which is extremely convenient The added bonus of the solar panel eliminates any worry of managing your light at night. I will be purchasing several more as a gift. Highly recommended, a definite must have for ultralight backpackers.
