Standard Vs Heavy Duty

Our standard mats are heavier than most competitors' "Heavy Duty" mats. This is not a marketing statement or gimmick. Our medium 7'9"x18' mat has a shipping weight of 26 lbs. whereas the leading competitor has a shipping weight of 23 lbs.

Our HD Mats are almost 1/3rd heavier. An 8'6x18 weighs 36 lbs. HD Mats are perfect for those driving on gravel roads in rural areas.

Compare Our Edges

Our competitors use an inexpensive foam that is insanely soft. The cheap foams could also become saturated with moisture, leading to potential mold and mildew issues.

We use a high-end foam that is much more rigid. Our edges are constructed of a higher-grade foam that does not have an issue with moisture.

The following information addresses common customer questions, and feedback received about TruContain containment mats:

We occasionally receive returns and inquiries from customers who ordered mats that were either too large or too small for their vehicles. Here’s how to select the right size for your needs:

  • General Recommendations: The HD and standard TruContain mat widths are designed to accommodate most passenger vehicles. Owners of larger or heavier vehicles may find the HD mat size more convenient.
  • Sizing Suggestions: Ideally, the mat should be approximately 2 feet longer than your vehicle. At a minimum, the mat should be at least 1 foot longer than your vehicle. Use your own judgment to make the final selection based on your vehicle’s dimensions and needs.
  • Size Tolerances: Similar to tarps, the mat’s dimensions are based on prefinished sizes. There may be slight variations, but once the mat is fully relaxed, the size will fall within acceptable tolerances. Please note that these mats are designed for functionality rather than aesthetics.

Due to storage and shipping, mats may arrive with wrinkles. Once the mat is fully relaxed, it will resemble the images shown on our product listing. Even in those photos, some degree of wrinkling is normal.

To reduce wrinkles, you can:

  1. Have two people stretch the mat gently, starting from opposing corners.
  2. Apply heat carefully (such as a hairdryer) or pour hot water over the mat to help it relax.
  3. Allow time for the mat to naturally settle into place.

Self-adhesive corners are included as a convenience, but they are optional and not necessary for most installations. If you choose to use them:

  • Clean both the mat and the floor surface with an alcohol prep pad (not included) to ensure proper adhesion.

The mat features raised edges to help contain water, snow, and debris. While the edges are soft and low, please exercise caution when stepping over them to avoid trips or falls.

I bought the largest size for my Silverado truck. This is the second year using it with no leaks or major issues with quality. I put some heavy plastic under the mat for protection from small imperfections in the concrete floor. The mat is about 3 feet in total longer than the truck with is perfect. I did not use the adhesive pads included so occasionally the mat bunches up a little just in front of the rear wheels. It is not been an issue. I just pull the mat tight once in a while. I live in Minnesota with tons of salt and water that melts onto the mat. I just sweep it out the door occasionally. I do not turn the front wheels while the truck is rolling onto or off the mat. It is supposed to help prevent leaks. I would definitely buy this item again. During the summer I just fold up the mat and store it.

We have a very old, small, heated, detached garage with a slightly sloped floor. Our problem is that the snow melts off our car once it's in the garage and then pools up against the wall because of said sloped floor. We went with the small size of this mat which fits well in our garage but by the time we got around to laying it out in our garage it was cold, and our garage floor was very cold. The mat comes with some velcro adhesive pads but due to the cold dirty floor, they didn't stick to the floor at all. So they were useless. At first we had to use weights to keep the mat down and stop it from sliding when a car drove over it. It also takes a while before it flattens out, especially when it's cold. However, once it has a bit of melted snow on it, it stays pretty flat. The melted snow is a blessing and a curse. It puddles up very fast when there's lots of snow outside. But the weight of the water keeps the mat down.On cleaning: Some other reviews mention using a squeegee, but that was just extra messy for us. We found a wet/dry vacuum is way more convenient and so we just suck up all the melted snow water and dump it outside.I think this mat isn't for everyone, but it's the best solution we could find so far to contain all the water from our car once it's in our garage. And with the shop vac trick it's not too bad if we stay on top of it.

Cons: I wish I could give this product a 5-star rating, but I won't because I cannot get the wrinkles out of it. I purchased two of these. I laid out both on the floor of my heated basement for three days, which took care of a lot of the wrinkles. But, there are some wrinkles that will never come out. This is a problem because it makes it nearly impossible to efficiently squeegee the accumulated water and other debris that falls from the vehicle parked on top of it.Pros: Does what it should and holds water and mess that falls from my vehicles. Comes with a nice squeegee (handle not included).I have only used the two mats for about two months, so I cannot attest to their long-term durability. Yet, I feel they are quality made and will last if taken care of. All in all, a good product and I am happy with the purchase of these two mats.

Needed a garage floor mat to collect snow and dirt that falls off the car - so it doesn't spread across the rest of the garage. This mat is made of a heavy duty material, and seems to hold up well. The edges are a thick cushioned roll to contain liquids. I placed it down at the start of the winter and it's done a great job catching all the water, snow, and dirt that drips and falls of the car. The thick material does not completely flatten out - there are still creases from the original material shipping folds, but it doesn't hurt the performance. The creases might flatten out in very warm weather. The thick edge runs all around the mat, so I'll likely need to pull it out of the garage in the spring and wash it down. It includes a squeegee, but you'd have to move the mat to a floor drop so that you could fold down the cushioned edge and drain one side, otherwise your effort is blocked by the thick edge. I don't use the squeegee because the water seems to evaporate after a day or two. The mat doesn't stick to the concrete floor, but doesn't slip when the car pulls in or drives out. Generally, if you looking for a durable, functional garage floor "tray" that can collect all the water and dirt that falls off your car, this works great. One other thing - the thick cushioned edge is soft enough to step on, but would be bothersome to be walking over it ALL the time. If you walk through your garage more often then just parking the car, then you should arrange the mat so that the edge does not fall right in a major traffic path inside your garage.

THESE WORK AWESOME! There are cheaper ones but reviews reflected that cheaper wasn't better. You want to pay a but more for the heavier, more durable plastic material. Does exactly what they are supposed to do. I am so happy I bought these as I have a dry garage this year. Hols a lot of melted snow and mud. Comes with sticky velcro adhesive patches but I don't have a sealed floor so i additional bought the recommended double sided industrial sticky tape and it really secured these to the floor.Pull in and let the ice and snow melt. Then pull out and the Included squeegee that you mound to any broom handle,(can put on opposite end of push broom) and push all water out or use a wet dry vac. Then drive back into the tray. Assembing: just unfold and lay out on pre-cleaned, moped , then thoroughly dried surface, ( I just looked at my existing tire tracks to mark where they go) and place it out to unwrinkle. Then I put sticky vecro pads in place and let plastic further "relax" and smoothed out wrinkles for a few days. My first one I didn't do this, 2nd one laided out better so have patience and let fold lines smooth out. I did it myself but have a 2nd person help you very slightly stretch and pull it but not too much because you don't want tension wrinkles either. Use squeegie to smooth out too. Get in place and then adhere to floor. You will be impressed with how much water and mud these hold. You literally can have a shallow pond with how much these hold. Super impressed with these . The edges are a foam poles thread into long pockets so you can drive over without issue. Just drive perfectly in middle and make sure you aren't on the foam pole edges as water may escape but I have never encountered that issue and I never drive in straight into my garage. Get larger size if an SUV to give yourself a bigger area but my Volvo xc60 has a good foot and half on each side and 3 -4 feet extra for front and back and I got the 2nd largest size. For a compact car and small SUV, the smallest size will work.

This is my second garage mat. They keep the snow and salt off of my garage floor. My first purchase was a larger one from a different company. I've had it for 8 years. This new one is a bit smaller for my SUV and does a great job. It's the same colour as my vehicle.

Don't like the creases in it, but it actually works to contain the slush, mud and water. Pretty easy to squeegee out.Seems very durable. We bought another type years ago with the hard plastic clip in edges. This new mat is much easier to use.
