A lot handier than socket inserts. They come in nice plastic container that doesnβt attract items in your toolbox

As the title states, this set lacks strong magnets. This alone was not a deal breaker but for what these were bought for, this was a problem. My son (the one writing this review) is a mechanic and was trying to skip out on buying a full set of magnetic sockets. He was severly disappointed in the performance. If you want decent ones, go with GP (Grey Pneumatic) they are beast and are fairly affordable if you use them frequently. One final deal breaker for them, some of his 1/4" sockets are craftsman as I lifted them to him when he first needed tools, these will not work with the craftsman sockets he was gifted, causing further issues.

Nuts....not so much. Bolts...to some degree. I think the narrow magnetic path is hinders the ability to hold much. I tried it on different sized nuts as I tried to align to spin on and see if it holds when I spin off. Depending on size and angle, I dropped most of them. It's just not strong enough. Sure, no socket on and you can grab a wrench off the table. Stick a socket on and it is not enough for nuts and the majority of 1 to 2 inch bolts were too heavy to stay on the tool. Maybe I'm using them wrong or my set is under powered? No... 3/8 version and a M8 30mm bolt shouldered hex, fell off the socket. I returned the set. It is just not helpful. On occasion of slipping a finger cot on to the socket works better and nut and bolts. So forget the magnet, put a condom on your socket instead.

These tools are one of those things that someone should have invented years ago. Handier than a shirt pocket and so simple. What you are getting is a 3 pack covering the 3 basic sizes of drive 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2.You put this on your ratchet in the appropriate size and then your socket. The magnets are strong enough to hold those nuts and bolts in place, instead of them disappearing into the nether world with every other nut bolt amd 10 mm sockets you have lost over the years. Now my only issue and it's not that big a deal is how far into the socket the magnets extend. If you are using a shallow socket, don't expect to get the socket to go over the nut if it has some thread sticking past the nut. I'm not talking about where you would use a deep well, I'm talking about those places where a shallow socket will fit. The magnet shortens the depth of what you can do with a shallow socket. Is it worth the trade off? Absolutely. Am I glad I have this? π―. Will it keep me from losing any more nuts and bolts? I guarantee it. If you work on stuff at home, get these. You will be glad you did it.
