The item box had been previously opened and it was not working correctly. We already have one of these thermometers, so I am familiar with how it should work.

It's the only accurate one I've found. But you need to make sure it's not in a really cold or hot room before taking the temperature. It's fast and palm sized and nice aesthetic makes it nice looking. very easy to use.
