Just a heads up that you have to read the instructions carefully but it does work. It helps me to know what to add to my soil for the lawn and for the garden beds.

In general, functioned as expected and gave comparable results to other kits I have. I found it to be a little confusing and had to reread the instructions multiple times. I eventually got there but feel this could be a lot more user-friendly than it was. I would likely not order this again, but did find it to be useful when I had it.

I’m a hobbyist gardener who likes data and quantitative measures. I’ve been super busy so haven’t had a chance to use but it’s a neat-looking little kit!

I used this soil test kit to evaluate different soil types in my garden, and it provided clear and easy-to-interpret results. While I haven’t compared it to professional lab tests, it seems accurate enough to give a general idea of soil pH, nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium levels. It’s a useful tool for determining if your soil is within normal ranges or if adjustments are needed. The instructions are straightforward, and the process is simple if you already understand mixing and titrations, making it accessible even for beginners. It’s a convenient way to monitor soil health and guide amendments without sending samples to a lab. This kit is a great option for home gardeners looking for a quick and affordable way to test soil. It’s not a substitute for professional testing but works well for routine checks and making informed decisions about soil care.

This Lynx soil test kit comes with all the necessary materials to test the soil. I’m not sure about the quality, because the labels on the bottles are peeling off. The manual is easy to read and easy to follow. I’m not sure if the potassium results are accurate, because the mixture was supposed to turn blue. The potassium chart shows a max of 26 drops to get the reaction, but I added 65 drops without getting any reaction, hence the three stars.

This fails on "completeness" and "comprehensibility" straight out of the box (explained below). Plus, the box inside the packing box had the kind of damage caused by a liquid (see photo), and one of my included bottles was taped. No explanatory note was included, and the taped bottle feels lighter than the others, so it seems possible that one of my bottles leaked.I went through the inventory of what I was supposed to have received. If I received the Ammonia Nitrogen Color Developer, it was not so labeled. I did not receive the Potassium Extraction #1 solution at all, and there was no explanation to indicate whether it was correct for me to have received 4 bottles of the Potassium Extraction #3 solution and only 1 bottle of the Potassium Extraction #2 solution. There was a note giving an email address if I had questions or items were omitted, but I didn't even have enough information to compose something."Comprehensibility" issues set in when I read the procedures. For example, is the "phosphate extract reagent" the same thing as the "phosphorus extraction solution"? Similarly, is "pH reagent" the same thing as "pH test solution"? If so, consistent terminology should be used. In the case of phosphorus/phosphate, high school chemistry class was many long years ago, but I seem to remember that the endings of words are important.I have no idea why, when, and how one uses the "potassium ion concentration results" table, or how to interpret it. This was "dumped" with no explanation.I will probably very cautiously try using this kit, but I will not have confidence in my results since the stage has already been set for errors. The manufacturer's website address is provided but no assurance that I will find some kind of tutorial there. That kind of assistance should be basic for this kind of product.
