I finally got around to putting this attic ladder pull-down kit to use, and I'm mostly happy with it. Honestly, wrestling with that string every time I needed to get into the attic was a pain. This kit definitely made it easier. The extension pole is sturdy, and it reaches my pull-down string without any problems. The hook grabs the rope well, and I haven't had any issues with it slipping. The copper storage hook is a nice touch; it keeps everything organized and out of the way.The instructions were a bit unclear in a few places, which slowed me down a little. It wasn't rocket science, but I did have to do some guesswork. Getting the angle and positioning just right took a few tries.Once it was installed, though, it works like a charm. It's so much easier to pull the ladder down now. It’s a definite improvement. It’s a practical solution that does what it’s supposed to do. A solid purchase if you’re looking to make your attic access less of a hassle.

I've lived with an old attic ladder for 8 years where I'd have to find a stool to stand on to reach the little eye that pulls the hatch down, so the only hardware I really needed was the pole with the hook on the end. It works great, and I'll be glad to have it for years to come and to leave with the house when I eventually sell it someday. But what has me scratching my head is the point on the end of the hook that makes this more like a gaff on a fishing boat. Why the tool that reaches the attic ladder hook should also be a weapon, or at least a tool to land a big fish, is beyond me. Because the point is actually pretty sharp, I'm going to take it out to my grinding wheel to round off the end. I could see this thing sitting in a closet for years and then get knocked over and scratch someone or put someone's eye out. Other than the inexplicable point, I like this very much.

This hook replaced an ugly nail protruding from the drop down stairs. It gives a nice finished look now. It’s easy to install, makes it easier to pull stairs down and is sturdy.

Does what it's used for! The pull down hook is dangerous, keep away from children.

3 segment Pull rod doesn't fit together. The one I received had a middle segment with a male on one end and a female on the other. The images for the product show it having a female on both ends. :(
