I'm not certain if this is a QC issue, as some have hypothesized online, or if that's the way they should come. A roll pin holds these on the distributor shaft and all gears must have a through hole so it's possible to later remove the roll pin. It's necessary for shimming the distributor. The gear I received has a hole on one side but not a through hole. I held it up to a light source and couldn't understand why I could see light until I rotated it and realized... ok no hole. So I guess I could use the distributor shaft as a pilot for a drill but I read where someone inadvertently elongated his shaft hole; really not good.If the manufacturer sees this I wish they would reply. I've looked on other sites and with standard photos it's not possible to tell. I bought mine almost a year ago. These cost a small fortune so I'm not too happy and even less so if it should have been through from the factory as I suspect.Update 12JN2024: Based on the answers I received when I questioned the single side hole apparently they come with only one side hole. It seems strange but I increased the rating by 1 star on the assumption it's not a quality control issue. I'm not certain why they would mole only one side unless they made the assumption it would make the mold more difficult and they couldn't drill it as accurately as the buyer could with the aid of the shaft installed. If that's the case they should add a description stating a valid technical reason. That would be full disclosure and, if the technical reason is valid, buyers would be more apt to accept it.
