EMT and Volunteer Firefighter. Our County uses Kenwoods, and the Commountain Microphone is wonderful. It's a sturdy and durable microphone that puts out fantastic sound quality when transmitting. Only complaint has to be audio received. Great for voices, but somewhat less-than for general radio noises and tones. Unless you have to hear everything as manufacturer intended however, this microphone is absolutely wonderful. If you use a Kenwood NX-1000 or NX-3000 series radio, I can't stress that this is a must-have item.

Solid, robust speaker mic that I would only expect in a Motorola. Beefy and with a sturdy, swiveling belt clip. The audio sounds better than the stock speaker on the Tidradio H3's I have. This is the one you need and you won't be sorry.

Solid sound quality on both ends. Bought this as my GM30 sounds quite bad, and this makes it very well usable. Build quality feels good too.

Chose the Commountain over the Radioddity mic to use with the excellent Radioddity GM-30 plus in my Gladiator. The speaker on the HT unit is really good, but I was disappointed with the sound quality on the corded speaker/mic by Radioddity so I returned it. I don't know if I can say anything that hasn't already been said about this Kenwood "k-plug" type speaker mic. I can corroborate that the audio is full and clear, truly a step up from the built in audio in my TD-H3, which is quite respectable in its own right. Even the Yaesu speaker mic for the FT-70DR doesn't sound this good. Transmit is readable, not as clean as my Kenwood and Icom handheld mics, but people know what I'm saying and that's all that matters at the end of the day. The strain relief is hardy and the cable itself is quite nice heavy rubber. I've been known to operate in heavy rain so I was pleased to note on the housing an IP54 rating which is reassuring and more than I can say for the TD-H3. If you're curious about dual recieve PTT functionality on that radio with stock firmware, you can swap the "active" VFO on the front panel, the speaker mic just goes off of that, irrespective of the last callout.
