Love JJ Petites for cross stitch. Let's you squeak out the last bit of thread and has a hook inside the eye so the thread doesn't pull out.

I expected to love these needles after hearing very positive comments about them. I’ve used 3 of them so far. The first one was useless: the eye was open at the top. The second had a rough spot in the eye, catching on previous stitches with each stitch. The third one seems ok so far, but I’ll never buy this brand again

The eye of this needle looks large enough to use a needle threader but none of mine work. If you do not need cheaters it is great. The needles are very sharp and easy to use for my embroidery.

Not sure why sheerness is a factor because these are embroidery needles. No sheer quality is needed. They are not thick either because again, nor a factor when it comes to needles. They are my favorite needle size for hand embroidery. My floss glides through with ease.
