I've been hand quilting since 1994. Needles constantly bend or break on me. I decided to try the Clover needles and I have been on the same needle for weeks. They are sharp and smooth when going through all 3 layers. Will only buy these for now on.

Those needles are my favourite for embroidery, especially when i need to stitch through several layers of thread when needlepainting. They are very sturdy, sharp and rigid, and they glide in much more easily than all other needles I've tried, including Tulip needles and John James' Easy Glide. I can't recommend these enough!

tolle Nadeln ,die Nadeln rutschen durch den Stoff wie durch Butter ,das Einfädeln allerdings ist eine Herausforderung

I used the needles on my hand quilted blanket. They are the best! They are sturdy and glide much better through the fabric.

Love the size 12. Enables quilters to take very small stitches. The needles are made of a material that keeps the needle from slipping off easily if dropped. Would highly recommend.

Best hand quilting needles ever. Wish I had found them years ago. You may need assistance threading them but they’re worth it. Strong and hold up to tension.

I used to think needles were needles, and I would just buy whatever was on sale when I went to the store. Then I started reading quilting blogs, and trying my hand at things like English paper piecing and hand quilting. When I saw the Clover Black Gold needles, at first I scoffed. Why would I take the time to order needles? I had a stockpile of what I thought were similar needles, that probably cost me $0.50 a packet with a coupon. Then I started having issues with my needles. The more I did hand work, the more frustrated I became. They would drag through my fabric, bend easily, and sometimes I would snap them. After I went through my 4th needle in one night, I decided to give these a try. I am so glad I did! Compared to the off-brand I bought at JoAnns, these glide through backing, batting and the top like butter! They are worth their weight in gold. My stitches are more even because I am not struggling. The lack of struggle also means that I stitch faster, break and bend fewer needles. Now I have a stockpile of these instead of a stockpile of cheap needles.Amazon is quickly becoming my go to place for quilting supplies. No need to go out to the store, very competitive pricing, and a pretty good selection.

I think these might be great for hand quilting only... someone recommended them for my hand sewing for English Paper Piecing and I just found the needles to be too short for my purposes. I did not realize they were sew short when I bought them :(

I love these needles! I'm a hand quilter, using the thumb method. I had been using #10 needles of another brand, but found that they were so cheap they "drilled" through my nail far too quickly. So, when I "graduated" to #12s, I wanted to try these. These needles are GREAT for thumb quilters because the eye ends are smoother and higher quality. The glide through the fabric is great too. However, the eye is so tiny that if you're using 30 weight thread, (I use Superior Threads Treasure 30/3) it will NOT go through the eye. I used a superfine quilter's threading wire and could get the thread through, but it would strip out one of the plies. SO - if you're using silk or lighter weight cotton thread, these are great for that. If you're using heavier weight, stick with #10 needles.
