I am a novice knitter. These patterns are too difficult for me. They are beautiful but the intructions are beyond my level of experience at this point.

Great compilation of patterns for every walk of life. Instructions are mostly clear and there is a huge variety of patterns; socks, hats, mittens scarves, shawls, throws, kid stuff. You don't have to use Classic Elite yarn, just get your gauge right.

Need to knit up something quickly? This is the book for you. Most projects take a ball or two and the designs are classic and gorgeous! Small projects equal instant gratification. I don't know where to start!

This is a really good one. I like to put little post its on every page that contains a pattern I like. Well, this book is FULL, and I mean chock FULL of them. I have bought pattern collection books before from the big yarn companies and been disappointed. It sometimes seems like they take all the patterns that don't sell and package them into a book that LOOKS great but the patterns aren't so hot.NOT SO WITH THIS BOOK!! It's full of really good patterns that make you want to get out your supplies and start knitting something! Something for every level of knitter, too.

Classic Elite is one of my favorite yarns. I also love their books. They have just come out with a new book, . There are patterns for hats, mittens, gloves, scarves, cowls, wraps, shrugs, capelets, blankets, bags and toys. I like the fact that the book offers information for yarn substitutions so that you can use whatever yarn you fancy and do not have to use Classic Elite. Some of my favorite patterns follow.HATS:I love the Lacy Hat, an intermediate level project. It is knit with U.S. size 6 needles and is in a classic white. The Lattice Rib Hat, also in a classic white, is for intermediate knitters, The lattice pattern is cabled and the top of the hat is ribbed. The Montera Hat is in a beautiful light blue hue and is for intermediate knitters. It is a lace pattern except for the initial ribbing. The Fresco Beaumont is in a two-color grey and white for intermediate knitters. The Canape Hat is adorable and just the right project for beginning knitters. It's in a darkish blue and is knit primarily in garter stitch. My favorite hat is the Thistle Hat, another project for intermediate knitters. It's in a lovely blue hue and integrates cables into the ribbing.MITTENS:The Fluffy mittens in several colors is a lovely pair. They are listed for intermediate knitters but I think that only someone with experience in two-color knitting should give them a try. The Thicket Mitts are in a lovely yellow hue and integrate cabling into the pattern. Again, they are for intermediate knitters.SOCKSAvery socks in an orange-red are ribbed and cabled and are for intermediate knitters. The green Legwarmers are perfect for wearing over pants on that chilly day. They are knit in a soft greenSHRUGS, SCARVESThe Button-Up Shrug is beautiful in a lovely blue lace pattern, again for intermediate knitters. The Little Leaf Scarf is one of my favorite patterns. It's knit in a lovely shade of moss green and works something like a necklace. The Silky Alpaca Lacy Scarf is a treasure. It's knit in a pink that is definitely not my shade but that's easy to change. It's all lace and listed as an intermediate project. The Bridgewater is a wonderful lace project listed as intermediate but appearing to me as more experienced. It's knit in a classic white out of alpaca and silk. Yum!BLANKETS, BAGS, TOYSThe Forbidden Wrap Blanket is 36" x 54", knit in a zig-zag pattern in a classic off-white. Just perfect for those chilly days. The Cabled Baby Blanket is beautiful in a white hue, measuring 35" x 35". The Basketweave Blanket is listed as an easy project and is perfect for a toddler or baby in its soft green color. I love the Sunshine Bag. It's listed as intermediate but all the color changes make it appear to me as a more advanced project. The Paintbox Frog will bring a smile to most children's faces. Naturally, it is green.Overall, I love this book. I picked out the patterns I liked best and then perused the book again. Most projects are for intermediate knitters but don't let that deter you from buying this book if you are a beginning knitter. It gives you projects to aspire to as you look at the lovely patterns.
